Interesting. I wouldn't call the N5ii thin sounding at all. On thing I am looking for in the DX220 is tighter bass, and a bump in dynamics. To each their own.

Well zx300 had more warmth and so did my AK. I just didn't like the sound sig at all, that's why I like to hear stuff before I buy- if possible. I think we all have our own sound preferences :)

I hear you there. It is a lot of money to drop on something unheard. At least iBasso has a 14 day, no questions asked return policy. Of course shipping, but it i the best there is here.

I would venture to say that the DX220 competes with the AK SP1000. Once I get it this Monday, I won't have to guess anymore.

:)
They said the same thing about the dx200.

Yes 18% on 900 dollars is like 160 dollars. If prime doesn't get it, I'll order it from lbasso directly.
Somewhere on this thread, someone talked to the iBasso resellers on Amazon, and they said they Prime wan't going to happen. At least, I think that is what was said. Not sure I want to dig through the thread to reconfirm.

Is the sound stage bigger? That's really what I'm looking for, I like the actual tone of the SR15.

Thanks

I actually have DX220 only for more or less 50 hours breaking in and the soundstage is for sure bigger than SR15. Imagine if it broke in for more than 150 hours! I like the SR15’s SQ too but it does not punchy and smoothly enough compared to DX220.
I did try to pair up the SR15 and ALO CDM (Sonotone tubes) which I like maybe much better than DX220 but the combination is not really portable.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll order one.

@Whitigir, I can confirm there's only one type of 4.4 female ever made by NDICS. So AMP8 has the best jack possible. Screen Shot 2019-05-12 at 11.06.45 PM.png

Hi All,

Advice needed from experienced experts here. So I have a dilemma here, I own a pair of 64 Audio's U12T. I am still awaiting my order of DX220 to be shipped from AMP3. In the meantime I think wanted to acquire the accessories like IEM cable, adaptor etc.

Question was would be beneficial to upgrade my stock IEM cable with a balanced cable (was looking to buy EA's Ares II 8 wire) or should I instead get the AMP8 and buy a separate 4.4mm male to 3.5mm female connector? Which one would be the best upgrade right now if I had to choose?

Thank you!

If you get amp8 with DX220 I suggest you to purchase the Ares II 8wire but don’t try to get a pigtail to convert 3.5 (SE?) to 4.4 balanced which we have been discussed before in this thread.

I think it's SE, will check later on that. I was hoping to go one route, cable or AMP, but i think it's more logical to get both. Would you then advise in getting the pigtail adaptor from EA only?

As I see you got amp3 which has 2.5 balanced output and do you want also get amp8 later, right? However, you also have 64 U12t which has 3.5 SE output (?). If I am not wrong you should try to order Ares II 8wire with 4.4 balanced output and get a pigtail from ibasso female 4.4 to male 2.5. With that pigtail can be used with either amp3 or without pigtail just directly connect the Ares II to amp8. That is what I am using right now.
By the way, DX220 has amp1ii which has 2.5 balanced output is good enough soundwise you don’t need to have amp3 just get an amp8.
