I would venture to say that the DX220 competes with the AK SP1000. Once I get it this Monday, I won't have to guess anymore.Hi, just a quick question. I made it to about page 140 of the thread but my eyes and brain are getting tired. I'm wondering if the DX 220 would be an upgrade sonically from my AK SR15? I haven't owned an ibasso dap since the dx90 and that was a touch too bright for me.
But I like the idea of a PEQ and quick charging and I like the design of it a lot, and would like a more expansive sound stage.

Thanks for the reply, If true then that would indeed be a big upgrade. I just don't relish to have to pay shipping back to China for a refund if by miracle I don't like the sound as much. I guess I could just wait until it's on Amazon.

Thanks,
What are you running them with?
Sony MDR-1ZR, Focal Clear, and Shure SE-846. All with AMP 8 and all sound great! I really like this thing!

It's already on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/iBasso-DX220...X220&qid=1557713278&s=gateway&sr=8-2-fkmrnullThanks for the reply, If true then that would indeed be a big upgrade. Thanks! I should have said Amazon prime, easier return and free 2 day shipping. Or at least fulfilled by Amazon. Funny it says AK 4495 in the description for the DAC. Lol.
Although chances of keeping it are high, and that vendor (pro sound and music) is pretty good to deal with.

I don't think it will be on Prime, as to avoid people abusing the return policy. Without being fufilled by Amazon, purchases from Pro Audio will be subject to an 18% restocking fee, so the return trip to China will be cheaper.

DX220 is way better than SR15 which I own too sonically. I will put the SR15 in the classifieds to sell.

Yes true, thanks I'll just wait. I thought I returned something else to pro audio and I had no restocking fee, maybe it was somewhere else. I can't demo ibasso products anywhere around me.

I just took the plung myself. It currently has just under 50 hours on it. When I get to 200, next Sunday morning, I will see how it holds up next to my N5ii. I am expecting a pretty sizable upgrade.

Is the sound stage bigger? That's really what I'm looking for, I like the actual tone of the SR15.
Thanks

Yes I had n5ii and didn't like the sound compared to zx300 and ak. I thought it was too thin sounding and the screen was horrible. Sent it right back I would imagine the ibasso would sound better

Interesting. I wouldn't call the N5ii thin sounding at all. On thing I am looking for in the DX220 is tighter bass, and a bump in dynamics. To each their own.
