my friend, you have to know those companies have different definitions of what time is. So knowing this makes 105 daps per year reasonable, thought they will pick up their releases to 200 daps this year, jeezz

i was hoping for an dac upgrade in the dx220 . is there i noticable upgrade soundwise compared to dx200 ( both with the same amp modul ) ? or is just a "performance upgrade" of the player ?

I would get DX220 with its changeable amp modules. It’s fun!

The 9028Pro is one of the top chips on the market for desktops. Two in the DX200 or DX220 is pretty impressive. The sound of the DX220, to me, is different. The sound is more matured and refined while maintaining great dynamics and layering. The sound signature is different as in very open and refined and even more organic and analogue like.

cant tell for the 220 but the QP2R ( on Bal out ) sounds better to me as the 200.
But as @jamato8 said.. the sound is different so ... cant help you

To my knowledge and some head-fiers already told that 9038 Pro is running very hot. Maybe ibasso would have to design a circuit to suit with 9038 Pro which will be in the future DAP like DX300/DX330 or DX400/DX440?

Over on the A&K Kann thread there was a post about something called the Kann Cube that supposed to have dual 9038 pro dac chips.

I dont like A&K they lag file support... ( cue sheets wavepacks etc ) and the only 2 daps i know right now with the 9038 is the AK se100 and the Cowon PL .. the PL supports all files but is expensive too

I did have dx200 / amp1 for 2 years and now have qp2r. I needed balanced and SE and could not find amp's that had both (hope i did not missed one..). Qp2r is, in my opinion, better in sound quality and has a lot more power. Soundstage is bigger better bass but.. it is a very boring player! It has nothing but sound and it also has no active community. I could imagine dx200 / amp8 comes close to qp2r. So dx200 vs qp2r or is it dx220 vs qp master now? Hope this helps

Yes there is definitely a sound difference to my ears. As I said earlier in the thread...the sound is more refined, mature, and I noticed more layering.

woa , didnt know about an qpm now im more confused what to buy next... DX220 QPM or Cowon PL ......

OK...lets see...the QPR doesn't do DSD512 only DSD256...however...it is shiny gold. lol

It's specs say it can only support 200GB, whereas the DX220 supports whatever the later in the industry has...currently 2TB.
