Dunu DN-1000 - Dunu's hybrid IEM - Impressions thread

I got a short listen of the DN-1000 a few days ago. I thought it was pretty good for the price; well-balanced and nice soundstage, though with a small bit of sibilance. I didn't feel it was as detailed as the AX60, but it was hard to determine because I wasn't using my own music. I like the cable. It's a step up over the normal DUNU cable in terms of flexibility and smoothness. All in all, I think it's safe to say that this is DUNU's best product yet (without taking into the yet-to-be-released products into consideration).

For those who have heard both, how would the DN-1000's sound quality compare to that of the JVC FX700?

Quite a bit more bass depth in the FX700, but the mids are quite recessed. The highs are harsher (piercing) in the FX700. Timbre is fantastic in the JVC though. I can't remember, but probably a wider soundstage in the JVC. Both sound great but very different (FX700 by memory for what it's worth).

Interesting ... what about the FX700 versus the M200? It's interesting because you find the M200 to be overall more refined than the DN-1000, so I'd be curious to see whether you find that to be true for the FX700 as well.

Also, how does isolation compare between these three?

Here's my review of the DN-1000, overall a very impressive IEM. Better than the T-Peos H200H200

I have the DN-1K in my ears right not. Not as great as the AX-60, but still very capable and a wonderful hybrid!

Just received the DN-1000 and I must say that wow, I really am impressed! I actually like them better than the AX60 from memory and I'll do a comparison when I go to NM. They are by far the best IEMs under $200, beating the RHA MA750 which are a great buy for $120. Keepers for sure!

It actually pairs wonderfully. The bass has good impact and is very detailed, midrange has great clarity and the treble has a very nice sparkle to it. The bass isn't as heavy as some claim though, not with the "Heir" tips anyway. They have fantastic detail and well as separation and are a complete steal for $200. The MA750 is great for its price, but the DN-1000 really blows it out of the water. I just wished that I had the H200 and the AX60 right now to do a direct comparison.

Had I known that they were this good I would have taken up djvkool's offer to try them a while back. Review will come in a week.

Ha ha. Now you know why I didn't hesitate ordering a pair straight away. It's that clean clear tonality won me over and clarity. For anyone who craves a clear midrange and expansive soundstage you can't go wrong imo. It just loses a touch of refinement if I work them hard at higher volumes.

I find them quite a bit superior to H-200 from an audiophile perspective, I also don't find them bass heavy like some others. It's like they tuned the Dunu spot on for my tonality preference.

Personally, I think that a bit more treble couldn't hurt. After using the DNK, going back to my Miracles will make them bass light as hell!
