Denon Officially Announces Its New Headphones!

Holy ****

Amazon uk pre-order prices:
Denon d7100              £999.99
Denon d600                £449.99

Amazon.com
Denon d7100              $960
Denon d600                $400

They might go down a notch in the uk but it looks like they priced them exactly how I feared. They've just replaced the dollar sign with a pound sign and even made the figure slightly bigger.

Now just incase you're wondering I'll list the standard prices (from standard retailers) of other headphones here in the uk:
Senn hd800        £999
Beyer T1            £880
Audeze lcd2       £850
Ultrasone ed8     £1200
Ultrasone sigpro £750
Beyer t5p           £800
ATH w3000 anv   £900
ATH m50            £135
AKG k550          £175
Beyer dt770 pro  £135
Senn hd650        £275

Oh yea and before they got discontinued the denons were selling at standard prices for over two years of d2k (£200), d5k (£400), d7k (£600)

I don't think I'll be getting the d7100, although I'll check out the d600 when it comes out

Overpriced tbh. Shame really because I was hoping they would be more like £200-£300 but it seems that the exchange rate makes no difference anymore... So much for the UK pound :/

The exchange rate is about 0.64 pounds per dollar and it costs MORE in the UK I mean What?

Technically $400 x 0.64 SHOULD cost £260 but it seems that the "strength" of the pound makes no difference at all to the prices... They will probably go down to £300 maybe less at other retailers but still it is quite a lot I think Denon overprice the headphones really.

The reason why I gave prices of other headphones, standard prices remember, is to show that many of the other headphones are not overpriced when compared to the usa/canada prices. I mean the hd800 sells for $1500 in the states as too does the ultrasone ed8. Even beyer regulate their prices with the T1 at $1400. Yep, akg too with the $300 k550 comparing well to it's £175 price here.

What makes denon so special huh??
These new headphones better sound that good.

Well - at least the prices are lower in NA and Canada compared to what we thought they'd be. A full $100 (25%+) at that.

This just put the Denon AH-D600 on my 'Radar', but I would need to buy it at another retailer, because I only use paypal online. Would anyone be able to reference me a retailer that will price-check and match the Amazon price? If not - It's going to have to be even more amazing for me to try them, since I lack any headphone stores around me (within 2-hours).

Try Mostly Digital, (www.mostlydigital.ca/)

I got my Denon AH-D7000 for $700 tax, shipping all included.
I think they were selling HD800 $1280 at one point. You need to call them to negotiate.

Depends on what they think "flat" means. Despite popular opinion, the D5000s measure more evenly than most would imagine.

add some JMoney pads and they get downright level.

Frequency graph is only half of the story.  You have to look into waterfall plots to find decay times or ringing, and overall non-linear distortion to see if certain frequencies are louder/muddier than others.  Also, Straight flat on a frequency graph isn't the same as speaker flat.
