Denon D2000/D5000, MD2000/MD5000 Thread!

Hey guys, anyone know where to buy the D5000 for a cheap price (say $400) that will actually ship to Australia? I can't find a store anywhere, Amazon has such tempting prices... except none of them ship to Australia :frowning2:

You would be surprised what pads fit on what headphones.  I recently got the Lawton Angle pads for my D2k and put my old stock D2k pads on a really old pair of Audio Technica ATH-A500s (pretty much the same frame as A700/A900).

I read from mmayer167's post that Fischer audio fa-003 pads / brainwavz hm5 pads(he also states that they're the same pads) sound great with the D2000's. Anyone have the same experience?? I have a D2000, all stock and I'll get the pads if they improve the sound. Mp4nation is selling the hm5 pads for $17/pair.

Even if HM5 pads fit, how it will help

they should be more or less like stock D2000 pads, can you please give link for mmayer167's post , was not able find it

Thanks, ordered a pair from MP4Nations

Even If I do not like them on D2K, I will be able to play with this mod without messing Stock D2K pads.

^ Post impressions! :) I'll get them when I can. I'm still waiting for someone to nab my Sansui 1000A.

I think at the beginning there were some D5ks that were too loose and would fall off if you leaned forward, and that was remedied early on.  TMK there haven't been any other revisions in the Dx000 lineup throughout its production.  There may be someone who knows differently than me, but I've not seen it mentioned anywhere.  If there were changes they don't seem to be something particularly sought-after, lest the early and late production models would be sold, and referred to, as such in threads on here.

Well I bought a barely used pair of D2000 for $170 shipped.  I have never heard them.  I hope I did OK and enjoy them.  Is a Fiio E11 good enough to amp them? That's all have and have no money to upgrade the amp.

Yeah, it's fine, they don't even really need an amp at all.

My D-5000 are not comfy for prolong use. They get clammy on my head and my ears start sweating allot. I think it would be better if pads were leather. Are there better pads for me or should I try to adhere some more tolerable material to part of the pads that are touching my ears?

J$ Pads and Lawton Audio Angle Pads are both made of leather, as well as supposedly giving better sound quality and sound staging.  The J$ Pads are a little more difficult to find since the guy isn't making them anymore, though you can still purchase the LA ones.
Apparently, the Fischer Audio FA-003 and Brainwavz HM5 pads also fit according to a couple posts on the previous page and they're pretty cheap if you read the links in the past 10 or so posts.

It seems the newest Denon's that came out in 2012 just before they got discontinued supposedly have a slightly better/refined sound and a few minor changes.
