Anyone know why Denon discontinued DxK line ? (!) They must have had a fierce following after release and it seems they handed the 'money bag' to Fostex by killing the line-up.

The contract was ended or was terminated for some unknown (to us) reason with Foster, who was building the headphones for them. As you know the TH600 and 900 are the same chassis as the early Denon line. Wish we really knew the inside story but someone likely got fired for that decision.

I keep waiting for the next evolution from Denon........

No one really seems to know what happened. Foster has the D2000 and D5000 still listed in their 2014 OEM line but so far they have not found a worthy partner or potential partners did not like their conditions for distribution. There is still hope these models will reappear in the market one day.
Btw. those guys at Foster seem to ignore all emails with questions regarding their OEM D2000 and D5000.

No they are not. Companies can buy headphones from Foster and sell them under their own brand. That's what Denon did and those models (better known as D2000 and D5000) were sold exclusively sold to Denon.

Let's incorporate ourselves and start selling them!  LLC time..................

ooooh... I'd pay good money to see Audio Technica reboot the D2k with their own sound tuneing and wood back

Foster is a big fish and only signs deals with companies that order in high quantities and have a worldwide distribution network. Afaik Foster is the main maker of earphones that come with Apple's devices ! My guess is they will never deal with small companies because they don't have to.
If you are capable of buying at least 5000 D2000s and 5000 D5000s a year they might consider talking to you

I'm thinking about doing the same thing to my T50RP. I'd use it more if the headband wouldn't hurt my head so much.

My MDs were very comfortable...

I don't have the additional padding between the headband and my head though.

You need to buy a Leather Comfort Head-Strap ($20) from ebay and a Beyerdynamic replacement headband pad ($10 to $20).   For around $30 you can have a super comfy headphone.
