Anyone know where to get new pads for the D2000? I know Lawton audio sells a replacement set for $45 but if they're the same vinyl pads as the stock ones I'd rather skip them because the vinyl is probably going to flake off just like my current set. Also the headband vinyl is flaking off but it doesnt seem like anyone sells a replacement headband. I love the sound but my headphones are starting to look pretty sad.

Lawton sells angle pads for $100.

Mr Speakers sells Alpha pads for $59 and are very comfy - I have them on my D2000 and love them.

The Alpha pads are much thicker and put the drivers quite a bit further away from your ears.  It impacts the bass slam too much for me compared to my J$ pads.  The Lawton pads are much closer in design to the J$ pads, and if my current pads need replacing, I'd go with the more expensive Lawton option over the Mr Speaker design.

I went to a local hardware store / ACE store, and they had a small drill bit that fit the screw I needed. Or, you could try to go to or order a set of eyeglass repair kit screwdrivers from Harbor Freight, like Oregonian suggested. I showed a picture of the drill bit below. I put a quarter in for scale. This fit in the space, and helped me get my left earcup back on the headband. I used a paper towel to prevent any scratches. I did "mark" the headphones a bit where I tried to screw it in though (I tightened the screw on the right one too), even with the paper towel because it was tight and flush, but it still fits.

Hello,
I have a similar problem, my D5000 right cup falled off.
Bought a "kit" of original screw, washer and hangar top, but now I can´t find a way to remove the hex nut from the top of the cup mount.
I did removed the snap on cover, only the tiny nut that is behind the cover seems to be impossible to remove because there is almost no space to insert a tool to grab the nut. Tried to use tweezers with no success, it´s too strongly fastened...
Any hint about that?

Just found out a local HiFi store in Adelaide has a few pairs of D2000, D5000 and D7000s lying around new! 
Was looking for a nice closed pair of headphones for isolation so looked at them today. They sounded great, but they really really don't isolate much at all for a closed headphone. 
Oh well.

I can't remember exactly, because I was turned off pretty quickly by the lack of isolation, but I think the D2000 was going for 400AUD, the D5000 700AUD and the D7000 about 1000AUD. Not sure how that compares to the US/other markets.

Since the D5000 is no longer being produced, if it were still for sale for about $700 would anyone be interested in buying them ?
Let's say a little bit in the future... would the price go up and would there be anyone interested in them ?

Doubt it, TH-600's would probably drop to lower prices by then.

Well.  I bought a pair of D5000's maybe 2 years ago used for $400.  I think you'd still have a market around 400.  not at msrp of 700 though.

I was just thinking that the price might go up as denon's replacement for the d5k and d7k are well.... not so great...
cause the grado PS1 originally 1400 now sells for 2000 i believe? I wonder if something like that could happen

My opinion only.

I think th market will always be there and stay strong but won't increase to say $1000 for the D7000. I'm thinking this is the current price for all three having watched these in particular for over 6 months now.

D2000 - $300-325
D5000 - $450-500
D7000 - $700-900 (largest range by far. I see a pair now for $849 and one for $900. These MAY rise a bit, especially Lawton modded units. My D7000, with Lawton damping mods, angle pads and now a HD650 headband comfort mod, I would not sell for less than $800. Not sure if I could get that much but as with anything, its about finding that one buyer who will pay. I don't see a time where I would want to sell mine. My D2000, Lawton modded with Alpha pads, maybe but doubt it. I have four separate listening areas and want to not have to carry headphones to each, hence the large number of phones.

Oh, and I have a newer gen D600 and love it. The comfort is amazing and as opposed to the older versions can be used portably without worrying about breakage.
