I once read a post that stated the Cowon J3 outputed plenty of sound when the volume bar was put at 10 - 15. However, I frequently find myself increasing the bar to 30 (or even greater) when in public.

Am I the only one that does this? Do I have hearing damage? Hmmm... These are the questions...

Currently using my RE0's, can't wait for my Miracles : )

I do the same thing, I swear I'm going deaf as everyone tells me. I now listen around 15-20 and the occasional 30 but nothing past that.

I never find the need to listen past 20 unless the file is classical or jazz FLAC which, in my experience, generally need to be played with the amp/preamp set at a higher volume.

With my IE8's I find 16-17 to be good for a quiet setting, and 18-20 for in public.  I have used other IEM's with the J3 which seem harder to drive, but they have all been balanced armature.

Is it just me or does it take forever to transfer files to the J3? I transfered files to the internal memory and to the micro SD card(32gb) that I put in it and both times it seemed to take soooooo long. Maybe 5-10 minutes per GByte.

New J3 owner here :)

Loving the UI. loving the sound, loving the battery life. It has very good sq, can't fault anything with it. Also love the eq freedom it offers.. Currently using it with my TF10s.. Still waiting for my customs to arrive. It's very good :)

Guys anyone who uses kizune's sense.. noticed that some tracks cant be added to playlist? Its says "error!'' I think its with certain tracks but havent found yet why they are rejected. I doubt its the format or the bitrate

I want to start using the j3 with my headroom ultra micro amp.   what is the optimal volume level the j3 needs to be in order to output "line level" signal  (or the closest to it ) ?

plonter, I found 30-40 to be the sweet spot when used with my Arrow amp, but just fiddle with it to determine what works best for you.  My biggest problem was the slight channel imbalance on my external amp with the volume too high on the J3, so I kept the volume fairly low on the J3 and upped the gain on the volume pot on my amp to negate the imbalance.  Just let your ears guide you.
