Chord Hugo

Don't mean to steer the thread in a different direction...I just picked up a 2Qute and using an ALO CDM as my amp. It sounds remarkably better the Hugo I had. From what I understand, the two DAC's are virtually identical...
Has anyone else experienced this difference between the two?

guys, an upgraded hugo is the hugo tt.  a smaller hugo is the mojo.  they'd have to split their lines into 1,000 different products for us to be happy or we can wait for the v2 versions.

The TT is twice the price and about 10 times the size of the Hugo. Not an upgrade, an altogether different product.

I (and I'm sure many here) would love a V2 Hugo with better sound, better ergonomics, and (one can only hope) USB charging.

My preferences would be to buy a Chord, because I love my Hugo so much, but if some other company made such a thing I might be tempted away....

Good luck. The Chord Hugo and Mojo are still the best in the portable audio space for the price.

My iPhone 5S, 6S used to work with Hugo.  After the recent update, now both won't work with the Hugo.

Are you using a Lavricable?

I have found the culprit.  My lightning to micro USB cable was bought off eBay from a Russian vendor.  That thing is dead.

Are you sure it was Russia?    Could it have been Latvia?     (Konstantin at Lavricables)

If it was Lavricable, then you should contact Konstantin and he may update your cable for you, so that it works with the latest version of iOS.

If it wasn't that cable maker, then you can find some alternative cables in post #3 of the Mojo thread.

I've listed several there, but the most popular one seems to be the PenonAudio cable (it's not the cheapest, though...)

There is simply nothing available for the price in the portable DAC realm today better than both Mojo and Hugo....the TT is wonderful but has competitors in its proce range...the DAVE on the other hand I believe is the best in its price class and beyond

Well...

Look how much some other firms are charging for their TOTL DACs in 2016... www.stereophile.com/content/msb-select-dac

I have just drunk a few glasses of cairanne, so I gathered the courage to try your link. Give me the DAVE anyday, the msb has an 'ugly pixelated display'.

Do folks go around every 2-3 years asking manufacturers whether they are going to change this situation? Realize product life cycle is 4-8 years

Well I for once think the $500 segment has peak in terms of price/performance. I love the Mojo (though it was hot), idsd micro and grace m9xx and found Chinese products of the same price to be no better. That's when I decided to go for the Hugo. There's only so much you can get
