Just my two cents, but I was able to get both my HD600s, and the O2+ODAC (both gently used), for a hair under $500. This amp is simply amazing, so throw in another hearty recommendation for the O2!

In the end I ended up replacing the Maverick D1, with the Maverick D2 dedicated DAC and a Schiit Magni headphone amp. This gives me the ultimate solution, though I like the D1 for an all in one unit. I think that is about it.

 
So you decided you liked the Magni more than the D1 plus? Even though the D1 plus has more power than even the Magni?

Another suggestion - see if you can find a Millett mini-max used, or build the kit from beezar. Sounds glorious with my 600's.

It's not so much that I liked the Magni better than the D1, as the D1 is a DAC/Amp combo and the Magni is an amp only. I ended up getting a Maverick D2 dedicated DAC to drive both a headphone amp and Bob Latino VTA ST-120 tube stereo amplifier, and I chose the Magni to use with the D2. That combination is what I preferred over the D1. The D1 is a great DAC/amp combo with a ton of features, but the D2 with the Magni is better.

So many expensive options, I use a $50 cmoy amp that works fine with em. For 200 you can get one of many types of amp/DAC combos. Hell even something cheap like a Behringer UCA202 will do fine with them as well.

I'd suggest a used Matrix M-Stage w/DAC from the classifieds.

The O2 combo sounds like sandpaper, the Magni/Modi combo isn't far ahead with the resolution of a wet sock. The M-Stage offers a significantly higher level of performance. Good luck.
