I love that Sony looks. How does it sound compared to the Onkyo and Sansui?

I really like it although the Onkyo is at my parents house so I cannot compare them. The Sony and Sansui sound great to me, I cannot really say which one sounds better. Some have said that the Sony has a tube-like sound, but I have never heard a tube based receiver so I cannot say.I love that Sony looks. How does it sound compared to the Onkyo and Sansui?
I have the 6500 mk ll....damn thing is huge. Big, bold sound. 100wpc iirc. Quite a different sound vs Sansui 881. Sansui is warmer, more musical. The Onkyo has better treble and detail retrieval. Thanks, I to remember getting my families Onkyo 2500 MK II and Onkyo TT. My parents no longer have the turntable, but the Onkyo is still running strong (I cleaned out like six inches of dust and cleaned the controls) last time I visited last year. Here it is -
That is a Beauty!WW !
Mine is restored too - it has the guts to drive anything. The sound is excellent!Just finished a total restoration on a vintage Pioneer SX 1250, 250+ parts!
Re-aligned.
Over $600 in parts.
Three weeks labor.
SX 1250 was gifted to me!
Great AVR.

I had one of those reel to reels a long time ago. Took it back and exchanged it for a 2340 because I didn't need 15 ips. Young and didn't do my homework. I also had a 2300. They were fun to record and listen to. What a walk down memory lane. Here is a better pic of it -

Beautiful receiver! My late Brother had an SX750 as part of his first real audio system back in the late 1970's.Just finished a total restoration on a vintage Pioneer SX 1250, 250+ parts!

I have it now as part of my vintage collection of gear. BTW nice workshop.
I still have my late Dad's Dynakit Stereo 70 that he built around 1961. Really nice sounding amplifier.Thanks...its in my garage....when its nice here in NC I open the door and work on projects.
Lots of DIY over the years...
Learned to solder 40 years ago..
I miss the Heathkits and Dynaco stuff....your missing out on alot of neat stuff if you have never built something like an amp etc.
A real chance to work with the "stuff", read a schematic, learn a little theory...
