Same stunning results listening to HPs via my restored HK330A. Hard to beat vintage gear!
I may be restoring an HK for a buddy soon. I probably have a different view of headphone outputs on receivers but I am so glad you are enjoying that feature.

Ya, not all HPs sound good on the jack - for instance I run my HD600s off the speaker taps on the HK.

Oh I understand impedance.😁 I run Focal Utopias and designed a tube amp to work well with those and HD 800’s. I also designed it so I can better hear differences in specific audio tubes.

I do have a device that allows for easy headphone hookup from the output stage of a power amp as well as a PrimaLuna EVO 400 integrated amp that has a decent headphone output. I can vary the tubes to get a sound I prefer.

Anyone running the AKG Parabolics? I got these on FB marketplace many years ago - Here is a pic I took of them (my Sony STR V6 in the background) -

Now there's a headphone you don't see everyday!

I think they are great, but you are right, I don't know anyone that has them. They are pretty huge with the dual drivers, I reached out to AKG and worked with a rep at one time to replace the pads with a newer velour (maybe the wrong term) pads. I have them connected to my Yamaha CR620 right now while I work.

Did the velour pads change the sound much? I've not heard the K280, nor the K270 for that matter.

It was at least five years ago, but the old pads were compressed if I remember, so I think this was an upgrade for me. The AKG guy suggested them as he had supposedly used them with this model himself at one time.

Here is my $20 FB Sansui 771 I got last year. I reflowed the solder on the bulb section because it was intermittently going out. I also changed out the bulbs with warms LEDs, nothing gaudy. I did see how the incandescent bulbs were hot and had made marks on the inside plastic. I have this paired with my Yamaha S4115h speakers.

That's a beautiful 771!

I remember back in the summer of 1975 when my Dad took me to Bryce Audio in Manhattan to purchase my first
audio system, as a 16th Birthday gift from my parents. I was overwhelmed by all of the lit up receivers,
with their bright colorful lighting and shiny chrome facades. The Marantz shelf caught my interest
and within an hour Dad and I were leaving the store with a Marantz 2230 receiver and a Technics SL1500
direct drive turntable. I still have the receiver nearly fifty years later. I really miss the simplicity of those days.

Thanks, I to remember getting my families Onkyo 2500 MK II and Onkyo TT. My parents no longer have the turntable, but the Onkyo is still running strong (I cleaned out like six inches of dust and cleaned the controls) last time I visited last year. Here it is -
