With all due respect...I would read other R2R vs DS dac articles before only looking at someone trying to get you to buy a certain product on massdrop or anywhere else..
Unless a person has a real experience with equipment, buyer beware...that said this "new" dac might just be awesome, but the same can be said for many other dacs.

The wide base of Schitt MB dacs vs this dac is quite wide....at the moment for sure.

Not my intention to promote Massdrop dac, but read the explanation of R2R dac. To R2R dac, I have Holo Audio Spring in my buying list....

Thanks Jay! Understand...there are tons more of objective articles and papers on the topic from waaaaay back....I would look at several rather than just one because they
are explained from differing angles.....some folks might not "get it" it as well from one viewpoint or description.

Then after that go listen for your self and see if there is any real world aubible difference before spending your money...

Was wondering if anyone has heard the T90s with the Cavalli Tube Hybrid from massdrop?

Thinking it might be a descent alternative to the more expensive crack and valhalla 2.

Hey everyone,

I’m an IEM guy and I don’t own any headphones.

Would these be a good “starter” headphone? I have a Chord Mojo as my DAC/AMP and use TIDAL on my iPhone X as my source.

Reviews look really good on these and I’ve come across a heavily discounted pair. For reference, I like neutral or balanced sound signatures and I’ve demo’d the DT1770p (250ohm) and really liked it.

I have the same setup with iphone 6/ Mojo/ Tidal, sounds quite good, it is details, dynamic, clear and open spacious. Even I have T1.2, I still keep T90 because it is special, I like to use T90/ Mojo to watch movie, it gives me the spacious being in the theatre feeling....

Think you meant DT770pro 250ohm?
T90 rules, but if you want something closer to neutral, DT1990 would be the better choice over DT1770 going by the feedback in the DT1990 thread by people who have tried both. DT1770 apparently didn't get any acoustic dampening in its cups, unlike the cheaper and older DT770pro or the recently discontinued DT660. That's an essential detail that shouldn't be skimped out on for any closed-back headphone, in my opinion, just like regular speakers.
T90 isn't neutral at all, by the way, unless you can't hear anything above 6kHz (you can't hear any treble, basically), then the midrange will sound sort of neutral-like.
DT660 is closest to an overall neutral-like sound from Beyerdynamic, more than even the DT880pro, as far as the ones I've tried out.

Been listening alot lately with the T90s on the Vahalla 2 and the BH Crack.....If you want a really great pairing I would highly recommend the BH Crack with Speedball. Its not that the Vahalla 2 is not good, it is.
But with the high end treble of the T90s which some love and hate, the T90s will be unmerciful with some recordings. To me the presentation using the BH Crack is more likeable, somewhat softer and pleasant with
most music...good stuff is good great stuff is even better.

The high end with the Crack is somewhat rolled off but you can still hear all the high end stuffed..just a bit smoother and less abrasive.

New T90 addition to my headphones stack. I must say I like this a lot. Bass has more weight, vocals are rich and has more presence. Surprisingly the sparkly high notes sounds very good to me. Though the HD800 has more details, resolution and soundstage, the T90 feels more alive in a small band group.

I'm several years late to the T90 scene but boy does this headphone sing ! I do have a preference for details and clarity. In that respect I like the T1 which I used to own but sold it because it's getting too much and tear. I like the HD800. Like Eikon over Atticus. My LCD-2f and HD650 not getting much use.

Feed the Yggdrasil and Glenn OTL amp to the T90 and you've an incredible sounding headphone. And to think that I paid only $290 for the T90 from someone who use it only for 30 hours. It's like new with the hard case and box. I can't stop listening to all my music again.

Pity all those who contributed to this thread has disappeared. :-)

Very nice setup. Is Yggdrasil dac matching well with T90? T90's high freq is not easy to handle.

No problem at all. The OTL amp balance it out nicely. This is clarity without the harshness. Resolution is superb.

I usually use T1.2, you make me come back to T90 and listen again (Tube Amp is Icon Audio HP8 mk2, Dac is Matrix Audio X-Sabre). After a while listening in Tidal, I listen one song from Ariana Grande, it sounds OK and I change the song to Interstellar movie sound track, I found it is great and keep listening now, I think T90 is especially good for classical, orchestra with very good soundstage, and T1.2 is good for all kind of music.
