it will flatten out the sound presentation like what u will get in the dt770... and will sound closer to the T1.
(the original leather pad made the T5p a tad hornish...hallish..just a tad )

the ad2000 looks supercomfy rite..? u bet !

can someone help me download this foto and paste it here...?? ( i can never paste/attach/copy on headfi..for inexplicable reasons)

its a foto of my T5p with denon D2000 earpads...

feels very comfy on the head, and surprisingly less leaky than when the pad is on the original d2000.
i think its becos the clamping force of the T5p is higher,  the sound has soften a tad...
the brightlights effect of the T5p dimmed a little.
must say i like this combi... still putting it thru my albums.

or maybe the T5p has finally burnt in...??
think i will live with this closed can for the rest of my earthly sojourn...
its got clarity, pace...and a change of earpads would give a slight diff in taste to the soundfocus.

i put back the original t5p leather pads, switched around a few amps and cables..
but reverted back to the ad2000 velor earpads, it really makes this t5p more "natural" sounding...
the reverbs/hallish/brightness definitely diminished..
making this t5p very palatable.
u guys go try it.

the clamping force on the t5p is on the higher side of the scale...
with the original pads, its an encapsulated chamber.

With the d2000pads, there is some leakage...but not as much as a typical d2000can..at least on my head.
Cos the d2000pad is not uniformly shaped. its a very comfy pleather pad actually.
Soundwise, almost similar to the stock t5p padsound.

My favorite pad is the AD2ooopads...comfy, soft, and still a closed fit, with little leakage.
And best of all, the sound is less enclosed, more "normalised" moving towards the typical beyer signature.
( i think this is also achieveable thru the dt770 velorpads...)

I almost forgot the I tucked away my T5p in one of my drawers in my office room, since I brought the LCD2 to the office. Still very good but the smoothness of the T5p is not as "real" as the LCD2 (Rev 1). T5p is definitely more revealing than the LCD2 but at the expense of very little bass. Overall, I would say T5p is kind of worth its price technology-wise, but considerating the LCD2 is even a bit cheaper than the T5p (at least for the distributors here in Hong Kong), you have to think real hard if you want just one pair of headphones.

T5p, of course, has the advantage of being portable - but I don't bring it out a lot, frankly, so that question is only moot. Next stop, I may try the ED8 Limited Edition - the only pair of closed-back portable headphones comparable to the T5p (at least in terms of pricing).  Hope that it will be, to me, the best closed back headphone in the world !

I am now convinced that a great majority of headfiers have been gradually converted into bassheads by the pop/rock recording music. The t5p's have bass, not weak at all! almost perfect. The ed8's are warm and with overemphasized bass, but the war amongst these two seem to be in slight favor of the Ultrasones, beats me! Perhaps people dont go to live, non-amplified concerts anymore? What is everyone's musical reference now?????

Ditto. I have been saying this to folks for quite some time. The T5p is a fantastic all in one, home and on the go reference headphone.
