You are so refined GuyDebord, and your personal story of being a STAX addict and listening to every high-end headphone that comes out and settling for the T5p is touching, and the fact that you include the SRH-940 high in your list confirms for me that you definitely listen to the sound and don't analyse lines on paper.

the T5p has never sounded rolloff or muddled to my ears b4...
it synergies well with the BCL at low gain...
and very wide sounding on the LDmk3.

On high gain, the T5p tends to shine on the music like a halogen lite...
sometimes i use the word "clarion" on it. This can give an impression of a more hall-ish presentation.

There was a time when i was comparing the T5p with the fisher003 n the dt770...
over a particular passage on a classical piece...
the T5p never failed to let me hear "more" into the music.

Hmmm...i would say matching of gears for the T5p is wat will make/break this can.
yes, and the t5p is fine with an ipad....lol.

Errrr....I am on the clarity-side of things....I will wear the t5p,
Scratched or without...proudly.

At times, I Wonder is it becos the t5p is so clear n transparent,
That it would Throw up whatever distortions there are in the upstream...
I am no scientist, just a guess.

When I switched amps or dacs or cables, the t5p would sound a little different.
On the BCL it's got clarity definitely.

I just can't imagine beyers coming up with a supposedly more advanced driver that has high roll offs technically.

Anyway, a Bordeaux suits me fine too.

Yes, on the q701 n d2000...
These are sanely priced cans, and I am enjoying them for what's it's worth...
And I know I am not gonna hear every sigh and heave of the diaphragm of the flutist.:D
I love their own quirkiness...roll offs, colored bass...coolness...
They have their places in sound-Dom.
:)

Yeah I'm satisfied getting them for that price, a scratch? oh well at least I can take them outside now without fretting :p

I saw your listing and noted it was a different serial number, so I won't be using the model with terrible harmonic distortion or whatever it was haha.

You got them fro AU? Maybe the're the ones I sold them to someone from AU :)

I have found my next pair of closed headphones - the Thunderpants. I am in the group order and will let you guys know my impressions once I get it. At half of the price of my T5p, my feelings will be mixed if it does sound better than my T5p...

I have to admit, listening to my speakers for a day, and then going back to the T5p... it sounds too bright.

Then, after a while when I'm used to the T5p signature again, it sounds very enjoyable, but it takes me a while to convert from "speaker mode" to "T5p mode"...

Good speakers will always be better at reproducing a real event than any headphone including the 009's. I would say that my headphones give me 65-70% of the satisfaction I get with my Kharma CRM 3.2FE's. Of course, there is a big price gap to consider here....

Yes from Western Australia.

You changed to T1, why? Just curious... :)

I had to lower the weight of my luggage for travelling. I only travel with hand luggage now. IEMs and earbuds are more suitable for this kind of use. I even stopped carrying my laptop and only use a tablet. Every time I read this or any other thread related to T5ps I miss them.

I bought T1s as I set up a home rig PC>Burson HA-160D>WA2>T1s.

Christmas is coming and I have two options for my Christmas list :
1-Hifiman HE-500 and Beyrdynamic 70 (70 not 70p)
or
2-Beyerdynamic T5p
So any suggestions or Ideas are appreciated.

I am not sure about T70s, but both T5ps and especially HE-500s you need some serious amping. Even though I loved T5ps, if I were you, I would choose the first option
