However, it's the exact same description that they use for the older pre-2007 DT860. Makes me think that this may be more of a cosmetic update.

DT880s came today.
They sound excellent. Really excellent.
I really didn't know what I was missing. It is so cool to hear every single kick-drum and every single tom hit. It's the coolest thing. Also the way that cymbals just shimmer for the exact right period of time.

Paired with a Little Dot II++.

i just pulled the trigger on a pair of 2005 dt 770 32 ohmers, bought them from s2k, should get them in like 2 weeks, agggg i can't wait, now it will be perfectly clear that i can't hear people on the bus,, for some reason people think i can hear them when i'm rockin e500's, and i always panic when i think i've lost them, it'll be hard to lose these. yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh eyaehe yeah eyeah eayahe yah ayaha ayayayayayaya ,, (in my best special ed voice) (from crank yankers).

got my DT880 (32 ohms) last week and I'm loving em! beats the hell out of the senns HD595 hands down anytime (IMO of course)

I'd be fascinated to compare these to the 600 ohm model. You're certainly having an easier go of it for portable use!

more beyer love here! im totally content with my dt770, i wont need to upgrade full size cans until my portable rig is back up to strength and problems ironed out of my hifi. glad im happy with these, theyre perfect for me!
