Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions

Sep 21, 2015 at 10:15 AM Post #496 of 3,712
DT 1770 murders the Sony Z7 in every way... I'm sad because I liked the Z7 so much I own two pairs.

Could you please explain that a little bit in more detail? I am not with you on this.

Fwiw z7 is not that impressive. It has some redeeming qualities and if you eq it it can be a very clear headphone but I listed it for trade after a short time.

There you go! You gave up too early and missed the best. It took me at least 3 weeks to get used to. Now it is addictive.

What is the point to keep headphones 3 weeks when you don't like it from the start?

He said that he also found some qualities in the Z7. If I dislike a thing, no mattter what it is, from the start, there is no point in keeping it, that is true.

I'm a firm believer of brain burn in being more likely than headphone burn in. The z7 bass was far to voluminous without solidity, too dark, and overall boring with a softness to the sound I just couldn't gel with. It actually made me upset. I would look at its groundbreaking design and shake my head wishing the sound would match. The other options I had proved easily more enjoyable. That's why I'm not really interested in a comparison because if the Beyer can't atleast have better bass quality and treble presence then I I'll check out. But I'm pretty certain it does because most headphones do.

Wow.
Glad I didn't try the Z7s then... would have probably thought the same thing...

No problem, take the DT1770 and be happy. Then the Z7 was not made for you.

These are now readily available from Amazon.de sold by Amazon direct. I will receive mine on Thursday and compare them to the Signature DJ.

I think I will wait until they get a bit cheaper, but I am definitely drooling at them already. XD

Very nice video, Mike. Even though I do not own the DT770, I think the DT1770 is one of the best, if not the best closed can that I ever had.
