Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions

So, finally got my DT 1770 Pro up and running after waiting for a new GPU.

Coming from a DT 770 Pro 80Ohm, just plugging it into my sound card without touching any EQ or anything, it sounded flat and dull compared to my 770.
Sound Card is Sound Blaster's top card AE-9.

However, tuning the gain on the sound card to high, turning on SBX "Crystalizer" in the Sound Card control panel, adjusting the treble (8K) +2db really woke them up" I also have removed the black "filter pads"

Its no doubt different sounding then the 770, i think the 770 sound very good, music and gaming, but the 1770 has much more detail, and you can turn up the volume more without sounding harsch, and i also found the 770 to require more volume than the 1770. In gaming its really more things to hear compared to the 770, i have compared them directly and its really a step up.

Have ordered the Dakoni Elite Velour pads, hopefully opening up the sound stage a bit, but so far i love the 1770.
What are your thoughts with the pad change?

Are these still super sibilant treble razor sharp headphones or have Beyer improved on them since launch?
Not sibilant and not sharp. They feel pretty balanced, no discernable V and actually slow if you listen to them back to back with Fostex.

I just ordered 2, did not allow me to order 4. £15 delivery charge to UK from Germany.
also ordered DT1770PRO from Amazon, arriving tomorrow.
Just spent my Sunday afternoon with 1770pro listening at some rock blues and jazz records, very nice headphones with no sibilance issues in my setup
I hope you enjoy your new babies

Thank you. What AMP/DAC are you using. ?
I have a Heed Obelisk DA Dac and I use mainly Beyerdynamic A2 and Monolith THX amps.
I have a preference for the latter...I think it really make the 1770 shine, mids come more forward, bass gets tighter.
A2 is a great amp, but I think a bit warmer compared to THX.
Also...THX amps these days are quite cheap and you have multiple options.
I heard Drop is about to release a new THX single ended amp for less tha ln 200$
