All models of Beyerdynamic headphones with this design benefit from the Beyer gel pads, both sonically and in terms of comfort.

I think it would be difficult for me to switch to any headphone that doesn't have gel pads available.

With great difficulty!

It helps if you have someone else who can hold the headphones steady so you have both hands free to put the pads on. The trick is to use one hand to keep pressure on the edges that you have already placed, while using the other hand to pull the rest of the plastic surround over and onto the metal frame.

I've had the pads for a couple of weeks and I've nearly given up.  I'm taking advantage of my roommate being around tonight and give it another shot.  Thanks for the info.

Got them on and my fingers and forearms feel like jelly.  Ugly as hell but I do like the fact that my ears are not touching the speakers.  Much better isolation and more bass.  Love it!!

The gel pads look "questionable" but I really liked them on my 770/600s when I owned them.  I thought they were more comfortable than and had much better isolation than the 770's velour's.  I haven't tried the the T70s though.

I do not see the reason for Beyer to make a third version of the T70 at 600 ohms since the sensitivity of the T70 is very high and quite easy for a tube amp to drive them. The T70 at 250 ohms is more like 300 to 600 ohms according to Inner Fidelity measurements.
