Best DAC from $1500 to $2500 (or so) Can anything beat the Eastern Electric Minimax?

I believe the Audio-GD DI only has 48K clocks which almost makes you scratch your head given the rest of the build is so over the top.

Thought about the new Wavelength but though not outright saying so, it looks to be XMOS based since it uses Thesycon drivers.

I should have added that the comment was in comparison to another 32-bit USB solution, so good point. I don't know what it actually uses, but I feel the Audiophilleo is better than both the DI and the XMOS chip in the Calyx.

If youre not opting for DIY device then the best solution is to "buy" one device with 14 days money back or so. Especially when you got transport from "ordinary" internal card or even worse, from motherboard. For me its no comparision to such "transports" and your gear is very limited, even the best.

Measurements for the Audiophilleo are in the thread about it here

The XMOS, if my experience with the Calyx is anything to go by, is awful. Someone went nuts in another thread insisting Audio-gd should be using XMOS in their products as well, and Kingwa replied to effect that he'd tried their demo boards and didn't like the results.

The Calyx doesn't have any sort of USB isolation as far as I'm aware. I'm also not sure what clocks are being used. I don't think the XMOS solution is either this or that, good or bad. Again, see Viper's mods for the Anedio U2 in the D2 thread.

Where the Audiophilleo and XMOS are different in obvious ways is the AP2 has no output transformer, the XMOS no input transformer.

Well its official, I don't remember when but I must have hit my head because I ordered the AP2 w/ WW UV.  Figure for $35 who cares if its better than the Belkin I have.  Assuming I like it... they need to release a PP2 in the matching grey that is plug and play.  Or AQVOX could make a NA model, that would also be nice.

In the price range, I will recommend the Italian northstar design excelsio, which is known for its top-class transparent and liquidity. Also equipped with ess9018 dac chip with DSD decoding function.
