Best all round headphones ?

The A700 and A900 are overrated. They're not terrible, but nothing special. I've heard them and they're OK.

The affordable, excellent all-round headphone is the Sennheiser HD-600. Look for a used one around $200-$225. Great headphones and they've earned an excellent reputation over the years.

^This.  I can't stand the A900.  OP wants him some bass, so I'd recommend the HD650 over the HD600, but both are fine choices.  Reminds me to get the HD650 again.

I think an amp is more important than the source for the 650, in particular.  To me, the 650 is a great all-rounder because it is somewhat forgiving, but also scales very nicely.  Of course, a great source certainly doesn't hurt.

I agree with the Sennheiser HD600. Put that with something like the FiiO E9 and the FiiO E7 if you need the DAC for a desktop/laptop and you are good to go. Amazing all-rounders, but I've only used it for music, so I'm not sure how it would do with gaming.

I use my Denon D2Ks for music and gaming and they work great.

If this review is to be believed, then I don't see any headphone competing against these for the under $150 price range: http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/545368/review-fischer-audio-fa-011-off-the-deep-end

Fischer Audio can't be bought in UK and the only dealer that imports to UK is their Russian stockist which don't have the FA 011.  Plus any gear is 20% VAT on top with and duty and postage to consider.
