Audiophile iOS audio player

Just gave the Kaisetone a try. How do I get it to output DSD? I uploaded a few .dff files (DSD64 from SACD rips). The player says DFF 2.8224MHz PCM 176.4kHz and my Mojo is displaying the turquoise light which indicates PCM 176.4 kHz.

If I select Up Sampling, the player shows DFF 2.8224MHz PCM 768kHz and the Mojo displays purple which indicates 768kHz. For DSD the Mojo will display white.

Tried the Onkyo HF Player and that works fine. Displays 2.8MHz DSD on the left side and 2.8MHz DSD on the right side. The Mojo displays the white light (indicating DSD).

I tried the HiByMusic player today. The great news is that it recognizes ISO files and can extract the .DFF files on the fly. The bad news is it downsamples them to 48 kHz. This is the orange light on my Mojo. Would be nice if this player showed the output. It does the same with .DFF extracted files.

The best player is the Onkyo HF Player. This natively plays DSD files, but I have to convert/extract the ISO files manually. I really liked the KaiserTone player, but it lacks this functionality. Downsamples DSD files to 176 kHz.

Edit: see below. The KaiserTone player does native DSD (user error). This is my favorite player.

Yes it does, go to Settings>Digital Output make sure DoP is enabled and tap on Change the output Device Setting. Under DSD output method, choose DoP v1.0. There are also a bunch of other options such as output duration, prevent head cutting and the main settings of EQ mode to tinker around abit to tweak to your liking.

That did the trick! I missed the "Change the output Device Setting". Nice how it detects and shows "Mojo". After multiple back and forth I think I slightly preferred the sound coming out of this player. The different EQ settings make this player the one to have. Thanks!

Please advice me a good USB Player Pro (Android) alternative for iOS. If it is exist...
What i need is:
1. Hi-res formats support (iso, dsd..) with direct out to Mojo
2. Possibility to play all this from NAS (over wifi). So no need to have them in iPhone.
I want to use my old iphone 5, but not sure it can do the same as Samsung + USB Player Pro yet.
Thank you..

I have been a lurker on these forums. You folks are so knowledgeable.

I noticed that Cyberfort have released a program called µRa. Based on the description on their site, they only differ in Spotify Playback vs download of songs from mora.

Other than the one listed difference, the apps appear to be exactly the same.

If I were not interested in either Spotify or Mora, would it be a better idea to buy µRa, rather than Kaisertone?

Will look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you,
Samuel

I'd go with µRa. It gives the option for Spotify if you're ever interested in it, in particular if it starts streaming lossless.

finally giving Kaisertone a try (iPhone 8, Chord Mojo)
sounds, maybe, a tad cleaner than Audiogate (... maybe!) but I find at the very least uncomfortable those three volume knobs (balance, volume and gain) :-/
plus I can't get it to keep some albums grouped (Leonard Cohen's "You Want it Darker") and it doesn't read the album artist tag of, if I recall, any album

no issue at all with my files tags in Audiogate

So which music app does bitstream to external DAC? Or all of them do it?
Would also like to develop a (relatively) complete list of "bit perfect" audio players for iOS (and Android). Chord technical support confirmed to me awhile back that both Onkyo HF player and Ampliflac supply an "unsullied" bitstream to the Mojo (I use Onkyo, but not Ampliflac). Would love to know what else does? I feel like HiBy does (but have no source to point to)? Anyway, that's my most-used player at the moment.

OK so I read the last 10 pages and people recommend NEPlayer or Kaisertone. Can you give me a breakdown of the similarities and differences between them?

I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.

Edit: Read the whole thread and people recommend Kaisertone so I’ll be getting that.

@maheeinfy:

Yes, it does support bit-perfect output.
Already verified with Apple CCK and many external DACs supporting up to 384KHz sample rate.
Also, there's an option for fixing output sample rate or not, if you want.

You can have ST-1 preview with your own setup.

The free version provides all the features but 1-min. Playback only per each track.

Thanks.
