oo, this track reacts well with the 3d, fair warning, at 1:15 its death metal... but the echoeiness in the beginnings cool, the outro too so skip to like 5:00 after the first minute... u know, if ur not not this kind of "music"

On windows sound , you should be able to configure 5.1 or 7.1 setup. Choosing 5.1 should get you the rear channels.

You can with with a normal speaker setup, you even have the option to configure your surrounds as sides or rears, but the usual ways of configuring or selecting between 7.1 and 5.1 are either greyed out or unavailable when using the Mobius.

Does this mean that if you were to enable this selection at the driver level, there has been a built in 5.1 mode all along?!?

In windows as well you can set the 5.1 surround locations as side or rear, however, I'd imagine things are mixed for side surrounds at 90 to 110°

I was thinking maybe because Windows classifies these as headphones, the headphones profile (as opposed to the speaker profile) might not allow for the speaker setup wizard. On the one had a solution might be to classify them as speakers, but then that might cut off other features designed for headphones, like being able to enable dolby/DTS headphone surround codecs. If there isn't a way around it, maybe Microsoft could help?

We are taking this and similar feedback into consideration as we work on next version of firmware. We have had the opportunity to measure a lot of production samples and have revised our model of the average response. We will not introduce a new preset (because of memory constraints) but if you had to choose one preset to make it 'soft' near 3kHz, what would it be?

I've been listening to a variety of tracks with the latest firmware and have come to a few conclusions.

1: I won't be using Warm again, the updated EQ is more pronounced and too muted for my taste, but there may be others that like it.

2: I'm getting more used to the Default EQ, this works well with a lot of music, especially electronic music (also noticably better with acoustic guitars). On the other hand I do listen to a lot of music with distorted guitars, and depending on how they are recorded/mixed, (as a guitar player who loves to rock out, I never thought I'd ever say this) their naturally abrassive tone can be over present in the mix, the easiest way to fix this is to switch to the Music preset. I believe it is because of the bump at around 2-3Khz.

It's not all guitars. There are lots of factors in a guitar's sound. The amplifier/speakers, the angle of the microphone, some engineers will limit each instrument into a frequency band so they don't interfere with other instruments, others will just let all the harmonics ring free. I've found that I've had to switch to Music EQ for songs

I find myself switching between Default and Music a lot. If I had to choose between the two, I would choose music as it has a fuller bass (I have been adding in a 3.5B bass shelf boost from 115Hz as well) It also has less sibilance in the instruments (I didn't realise that was a thing), and will ultimately be less fatiguing.

It would be great if the EQ's for music were grouped together so we didn't have to skip over the gaming EQ's to switch between.

Edit: should probably mention this is all in 96Khz HD Bluetooth mode.

Geez, using the USB-C to USB-C cord directly to my Galaxy Note 9 boosted the maximum volume possible without having to use an external headphone amp and it is way too impressive. I turned off the 3D and went with Default settings and it definitely provides a clear-cut and reference quality sound. Beatles, Oscar Peterson, and even underground hip-hop sounds like pure steak and gravy now.

This is the reason why iPhone doesn't work unless you can find a USB-C to Lightning adapter and I'm glad that Audeze provided the USB-C to USB-C cord. Now it's time to test this on my Surface Go which has USB-C.

And the damn Beatles is making my skin crawl after this solution now... this scares me that I can blow out the Master and Dynamic headset which is on the shelf now.

@Deders @The Socialist Nerd @overhaze Have you done the head measurements? What do you have room ambience set to? 3d on with music really kicks ass but it can take a little tweaking to get it just right, in my case swapping pads and some extra eq and then theres no going back.

Yeah I've done the measurements for gaming, the 3D is great, have yet to try it with the new firmware.

I tend to switch the 3D off for music as I find it distracting and spend too much time focusing on whether it is centered or not, and not the music. Even when set to Auto, it doesn't always center exactly which bugs me. Also if I look around, I end up with all the sound in one ear. This even happens with 5.1 music.

Would be nice if I could turn the gyroscopes off.

The inter-aural arc is set to 35

I haven't done head measurements but I have a decently large head so it's going to be a slightly tighter fit for myself.
Right now through the USB-C cord I am banging out the Youtube track: and the scratched vocal samples on either the Master and Dynamic or Bose I wasn't able to understand well until now. The Audeze makes it night and day now.

For head measurements I guess that you can base it off my self-portrait I took earlier today:

Ah I see, they're working on a mode without the head tracking still. That can be an issue as the phantom center is more noticeable when its out in front if there's a channel imbalance or if the hrtf interacts with your ears differently. I tend to use auto the most but manual if im sitting still i can look off to the side and then center. This happens with some of the OOYH presets as well, for that I just reduce one channel a bit, not perfect but adequate.

I keep room ambience at about 30.

Heh, bust out some measuring tape and put those measurements in, will improve the 3d performance.

Hi @Audeze and @KMann

I have a few questions regarding the Mobius:

- How is the depth in the new pads compared to the originals? The original pads are just barely deep enough for my ears, but my ears still touch the inside of the headphone causing mild discomfort. If the new pads are deeper than the originals I will certainly consider buying them.

- Any plans to bring the upgraded pads to the EU, specifically the Netherlands? Expensive shipping and import tax prevent me from buying them at the moment.

- What are the conditions for getting a battery replacement under warranty? Total battery failure? Some amount of capacity lost? How would you determine whether or not you're eligible for replacement?

And lastly as a bonus, I contacted support a while ago regarding a bug in the Mobius firmware, including detailed steps to reproduce the problem. My messages were reportedly sent over to the engineering team and I would hear back once support got a reply. It's since been more than 2 months since the last message. 2 weeks after the initial report I asked if there was any progress, and reportedly support had not heard back from the engineering team. Could you investigate as to what's going on here? Has the engineering team been able to reproduce the issue? Have the messages somehow gone unnoticed? I would love to get a status report on this. I will provide the support ticket number and any other details upon request if needed.

Thank you for your time.

Got a mailer that a new f/w and HQ app is available but it still shows the old one on the website.

We had not posted about the FW and HQ app update other than on Head-fi, this email blast was for everyone else.
If you are a Beta tester, you should not update.
v3 Beta is the latest and anypne on v2 Beta should PM me instead.
