so here is the problem today in HP world for a person like me who loves the latest and greatest......the latest and greatest in the world of HP's is no better than the prevailing champs....I own the LCD-5 and like it but as a new to the market model it is not as good as the abyss TC,susvara or sria or even the solitaire P IMHO....this is not a criticism of the 5 which as I said is a fine HP and an improvement on the 4 at least to me....it seems that HP technology has peaked for the time being and new models are simply different flavors but not revelations....the only possible exception for me might be the sr1a because it is so different....I was hoping to be wowed "relative" to the current TOTL offerings but sadly I havent been
I agree, but you should try the CRBN, I think it will provide you that WOW factor you are looking for....

I got my LCD-5s. Loved then. Then the cable connect came loose in the first week. I read that issue was happening but hoped I’d be spared. Now waiting for a warranty.

I’m hoping they just replace them.

Seeing more and more of these posts lately. I hope Audeze isn't foregoing proper QC just to rush out production.

I had to use a pliers to actually get the cable out. VERY frustrating with a $4500 headphone (although I did get a great deal and didn't have to pay full price)
But that's besides the point. Paying top dollar for a piece of sophisticated equipment shouldn't come with these type of QC problems. It's like akin to owning a sports car and having the door handle come loose when you tried to open the door.

I hate to break it to you, but high end sports cars break ALL the time, for all sorts of reasons.

While I do agree with you, which is why I specifically said door handles which is supposed to be the least likely part to give an issue like in this case.
or the frunk of a C8.... :D

Wow, didn't know that the connectors thing is so widespread.

I just received mine earlier this week and it's pretty great even without EQ. I loved pairing it with the new Fiio M17!

I am a LCD-5 owner and hope it is not a widespread issue.
If you have a bad experience, and yes a connector pulling out of a $4500 hp is bad, you tend to post it. If you own a LCD-5 w/o this issue you are a likely a happy owner and may never post.

Reply from Shankar regarding the issue:
So for the upcoming batch, what can we expect? A somewhat reinforced mini-XLR connector but not the long-term solution? Meaning they will still have to be sent back sometime in the future?

The first thing i will do,
when my LCD-5 arrives, is treat the contacts with Caigs DeoxIT Gold

Because the connectors are glued, treating them with anything could weaken the adhesive bond. Contact Audeze before you try anything!
