You can fix that with EQ but some of the warmth still remains. That's why I was curious about pads. Maybe different pads will change the presentation a little. Give me a bit more clarity.LCD2C is warmer and darker than the ER4 or HD600. Some people like this kind of sound presentation, some don't. If one listens to the 2C exclusively for a few days, might start to appreciate it more. Swapping between dark and bright(er) headphones doesn't help.
At the same time the 2C will never be a treble king. It is a bass king.

Velour pads I think is what gave the K-701 part of its “bright” signature. You can fix that with EQ but some of the warmth still remains. That's why I was curious about pads. Maybe different pads will change the presentation a little. Give me a bit more clarity.
I haven't tried different pads on the 2C, so someone else can chime in on that. My experience with pad swapping on other headphones is that they change the sound but don't change the basic tonality. Whether the change is enough for you only you can decide. Also my personal experience is that if I don't like the default tonality of a headphone nothing will really change that (neither pads, EQ or cable) so I am better off looking for other headphones. None of these tweaks will bring radical change. You can fix that with EQ but some of the warmth still remains. That's why I was curious about pads. Think it was you that asked about Fazor removal on LCD-X..That changes tonality I believe, since 2C and 2F drivers were the same, but tonally warmer on 2C with no Fazurr. Also my personal experience is that if I don't like the default tonality of a headphone nothing will really change that (neither pads, EQ or cable) so I am better off looking for other headphones.
I would say the 2C and the 2F still share the same tonality, although sound characteristics are quite different.Think it was you that asked about Fazor removal on LCD-X..That changes tonality I believe, since 2C and 2F drivers were the same, but tonally warmer on 2C with no Fazurr.

I personally find the LCD-2F to not feel dark at all. Currently listening Warren Zevon’s Werewolves of London on them. i find them more clear, and energetic than the HD650, or the hFman he 400

Those Named headphones are more bright than neutral.A shade less dark than the 2C, but still much darker than most headphones (Focal, Beyer, Sennheiser).
So I guess the LCD-2 fits "neutral"
While the 2C is more on the dark side
I wouldn't call the 2C neutral. It is warmer and darker than a typically neutral sound in its price range. Those Named headphones are more bright than neutral.

I wrote that the 2C is on the dark side. Yes it is warmish.I wouldn't call the 2C neutral. It is warmer and darker than a typically neutral sound in its price range.
The 2F is more neutral than that and less bright than those quoted earlier.

Oh my hd650 are darker than my lcd-2f, same with my dt990pro. (Havnt had a focal) to me they hit the sweet spot not too bright, not too dark, they also dont feel overall thick, with their fast attack. They are darker than my t90 tho, and the K-701. However their energy and attack speed kind of mask the darkness. The he400 is dark, almost a bit muffled. The LCD-2f is perfect for metal, insanely fast. Then again all my planars seem to be fast attack.A shade less dark than the 2C, but still much darker than most headphones (Focal, Beyer, Sennheiser).

These seriously are the first headphones where Im impatiently wanting to get home from work (we cant use headphones at work) to listen to. Even nicotine doesnt have as much of a withdrawal effect as the sound from these .Oh my hd650 are darker than my lcd-2f, same with my dt990pro.
