Just wondering whether LCD-2 come on sale that often? What is the cheapest price for the new ones? I remember reading a post that these going at $499 on BF last year.

The $500 sale was for B-stock LCD-2F on Black Friday last year. They may come with cosmetic flaws, but I haven't found any on mine (bamboo/black leather) purchased from last year's sale. I don't know if the sale is going to be repeated this year though.

What's up guys. Is there some sort of guide on which revisions to buy? I'm in the market for a second hand pair of LCD-2, and all the different materials, revisions, and variations are throwing me off. Fazor, etc.

I'll more than likely make a full thread on this subject next week once I've had more time with them... But I finally got my LCD-2 back from Audeze. (one of the drivers got damaged during shipping, Audeze covered repair costs!) I've spent around 3 hours with them on, and initial impressions are good, very good.

A lot of people were interested on how they compare to the M1060's... I feel like I need more time with them to give a fully detailed comparison. BUT, one thing that I have already noticed, like a lot, is the details. The Audeze's are on a different level of detail than the M1060. You definitely notice more of the little stuff, like string plucks and softer sounds that other headphones might have missed / got muddied up with the rest of the track. NOW, with that being said, the flipside to this is that poor recordings have more hiss and crackle, and to be honest, it was one of the first things that I IMMEDIATELY noticed. It isn't going to ruin the listening experience for me, if anything, it just makes listening to my SACD's more enjoyable to hear little nuances like that.

If anyone has any specific questions they would like answered on my comparison of the LCD-2 and M1060's, please let me know. I'd be more than happy to give you my thoughts on them once I have had more time with the LCD-2's.

Did you have any head time with the pre-fazor LCD-2? Curious how it compares to both.

I believe the LCD2.1 and LCD2.2 are the pre-fazor versions, with the 2.1 being darker. There's also the 2014 LCD2F (not as well-received) and 2016 LCD2F (current version, neutral, very good, owned by me :) ). It might be worth waiting for impressions on the new LCD-2C, since it's in a similar price bracket to current used LCD2s.

There are seems to be a 2017 version of the LCD-2. Although, besides a different travel case and minor re-badging, it's not clear that there is any difference between it and the 2016 version.

Been spending this last week enjoying my new LCD2 (2.2). these are the same as what I've owned before. Not sure what there was to improve. BUT I have not heard later models. Anyhow, love them as much as I used to! :)

My aluminum LCD-2F 2016's arrived a few days ago, and they were packed in with what seems to be the new cable. At least, it is no longer the ribbon cable, but a braided one that I've seen in an unboxing of the 2017 LCD-2's. I have never had a chance to use or manipulate the flat cable, so I cannot compare the two. However, here are my thoughts on this one, along with some pictures. Hopefully, this isn't all old news.

The cable is very supple and flexible for a braided cable this thick. It will easily make a turn tight enough to wrap a finger and, as the pictures show, piles up nice and neat. There does seem to be direction the cable, meaning that it curls one way more easily than the other, but otherwise it has no memory effect. The plugs are very sturdy and metal on the 6.3mm end and for the splitter. Lots of strain relief on that end as well. Overall, I'm very pleased with its quality, though I really would have preferred it in matte black to match the headphones themselves better. The glossy black makes the cable look a little cheap.
