Audeze LCD-2 Impressions Thread

I have a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M50x arriving tomorrow. This is going to be a funny comparison to LCD-2F...
I was just looking for inexpensive closed cans for office, bedside listening and maybe some travel. Actually going to be my first closed cans.

I get a lot of satisfaction from cheap cans because I don't pick apart all their flaws--I just take them for what they are--a cheap way to hear music.

Luckily I don't listen at above moderate levels, but I'll let you know my impressions today.

+1  That's why I still listen to and love my MDR-V6's.

Just got my M50x. First impressions, powered from my Bifrost/A2 stack on Low Gain - to be honest, for a $150 closed can they sound darn good! Even compared to $1000 LCD-2F. Tad overpowering on bass and a little metallic edge on treble, but really great and balanced sound overall with good separation and decent sound stage. I already feel this is going to be my second favorite can after Audeze.

why is everyone being so snobby about some guy buying m50s for work/travel/bed?

m50s are awesome headphones and sound great. I use my lcd-2s and m50s every day and love them both. m50s in my opinion are perfect over-ear headphones for traveling. they may not sound as good as lcd-2s, but come on, ear piercing?

granted, I'm no díckhead audiophile who listens to the equipment instead of the music and picks out every little detail in a headphone, but give the m50s some credit -- they are well worth their price and are great mid-fi headphones.

Funnily enough... they seem to be slightly less bright/easier listening with certain genres than LCD-2F. I'm really enjoying them now and they will certainly share good chunk of head time with Audeze's.

I don't think it was meant to be snobbery, just a subjective comment on what he thought their weakness was. There are a couple of sub-$100 cans I love and would go back to if I had to.

Heck, I still love my $15 Sony earbuds.

My LCD-2.2 will be here tomorrow. Im so excited i can barely contain myself. Its like waiting for christmas eve to be over to only wake up to presents under the tree.

I also have a quick question for all of you. Does any know how much audeze charges to swap out the wood cable connects for the updated terminals? Do they even charge for this?

Can't help with your question, but I do know of your excitement and they will be everything you expect and more... Or that's how I feel about them :D
