I have a pair of LCD-2's coming Saturday and I'm hoping they will pair well with my iFi Micro iDSD BL. Anybody using that combo?
I do, and I love the combo.

Yuuup. I turbo mine, though normal works fine. I find that with the additional vrms they sound a little bit better.

Gratuitous glamor shot! Any savvy BL users spot the problem(s) with this picture?

That's awesome! Are you using "Normal or Turbo" to drive yours?
Generally run in the "normal" setting. Can get more than enough out of them in that mode. That said, playing with the 3D and bass boost switches can be a load of fun. Really depends on what I'm listening to, or mood I'm in.

To my ears, driven by Violectric V281 or SPL Phonitor 2730B/Schiit Gungnir Multibit/RGPC Power conditioning/Wireworld Silver Eclipse 7 cabling and stock headphone cables on the LCD3 vs LCD2C, they are different enough where most would have a preference for one or the other. LCD3 being a more lush and romantic tonal balance and the LCD2C being a bit less so and sounding a bit closer to neutrality. The LCD2C is still a bit on the warmer side of neutral, which to my ears is always a good thing with so much of the music dynamic range compressed and loudness mastered these days.

It's so strange that you say the LCD-3 is more lush and romantic. I auditioned the LCD-2 next to the LCD-3 and LCD-X, and I found the 3 to be brighter, more detailed and bass light, whereas the LCD-2 and X were much more full bodied and warm.

Something wrong with my ears?

Not sure why you had that impression but the LCD-X has more treble extension. In fact Moon audio suggests using the smoother Black Dragon cables not the Silver Dragon with LCD-X to tame the treble.

Well, that's a big plug. OK, did you paint a silver iDSD black?? I grasping here.

Not silver, not black... think red.

Also, the new plug is smaller than a 6.3 Neutrik. Maybe it photographs big, but it's pretty reasonable IRL.

I have a noob question? What happens when you connect a balanced cable into a single ended amp as far as sound is concerned? Will there be a degradation such as not sounding full? The reason that I ask is because my phones came today but I think with only a balanced cable. :triportsad:
