No I have not. And I don't think I should check them out. I'm already very confused already :p I will read reviews for them after I purchase one of the 3 headphones. I know I may regret it though hahahaha.

To: Horrible man
Thx for the definite confirmation. It is nice to know for sure that 840 performs better than 440 in the bass section even without amp

Early in the thread's poll 840 wins hands down, After that m50 play a catch up game with 840. 440 start slows but rising up fast. Now all 3 of the headphones have the same amount of votes, each got 6. It is like watching some horse race. I will make a decision tomorrow on which one to buy no matter what. I have been thinking too long on which one I should purchase :p I invest (read: waste) too much time thinking about which one I will buy.

Okay....I Have just received my Shure srh440s in the mail about 5 days ago and this is what i think....For 99 dollars they are an amazing buy! BUT!!! The bass isn't strong or punchy(although i might be saying this since i listened to the beats by dr. dre a lot in store) but the mids and highs are great.

Sound: Great for 99 dollars and beats most headphones within 80 dollars of it.

Comfortability: Okay..Kind of heavy and big with soft cushions but i heard the srh840 cushions are better and they can be used on the 440 so for 15 bucks go get those cushions

Portability: They are foldable and an 8/10 for portability although they are big

Style: They look big on the head but look amazing in hand or just randomly out...Not a fashion statement on the head but its not to shabby

Overall: I would take these over the srh840 and over the m50 and it does not need an amp..But i am going to look at buying some other headphones..comparing them and then returning whatever ones i dont like...I give the shure srh440 a 8.5 out of 10 and there good but they are a bit big

How do the Shure 440 perform with classical music, female vocals, games and movies? I got a tempting offer from an ebay seller on shure 840: 139 +38 $ shipping, but I don't know if it's worth the extra 53 $ (the same seller offered me the shure 440 for 124 $, shipping included.

They are lovely with female vocals. Lovely up front presentation. I've tested with fleedwood mac and the cranberries. I'd imagine from their sonic character that they would be a great match for classical.

In addition to that, they're awesome in classic rock and acoustic music. The Corrs, The Eagles, Styx, Scorpions, and even Earth, Wind and Fire sound great in the 440's when I auditioned them.

I'm just curious. Can anybody take a photo of m50, 440, 840 side by side or worn on the head, or at least the dimension of it (height and length). I never really compare them on size side by side. I know I feel that 840 is very big. and m50 is the smallest one. Google doesnt come out with any result

I found this pic on google (one of the first results)
I've already ordered one M50s from ebay ($90 + shippment $34 (free to U.S) = $124 but still less than half the price than here in Hungary (~$258

My 440s were only $75 shipped from Amazon. Good all around cans. For what I paid for them, they're pretty awesome. They match up well with my BB202, but don't need to be amped off of my Zune. I can't wait to hear them and roll tubes in my Indeed hybrid when it arrives. I do recommend the 840 cushions though. There is more comfort there for me. I wouldn't take any one single person's word as gospel about any phone, amp, teacher, movie etc, though.

The poll is actually fairly even... If you can't demo the cans, try to buy based on the whole system you're going to listen to them with. How the phones sound with poster A's rig, may or may not be comparable to poster B. Whatever anyone of us post as an opinion should have YMMV at the end... Your Mileage May Vary. I almost bought the M50s, but I couldn't pass up the deal I got on the 440s. All three are great cans.
