Hehe, no seriously... the wood is just grand, how do you like your esw9s?

Really, really nice. Cannot wait for Apple to finally ship my 16GB Nano as I plan to use them as my portable headphone of choice.

Fit is not an issue as it has had 2 months of working itself out

Cannot say more than has already been said. Good synergy with the Tomahawk as it adds that touch of airiness to the treble and tightens the bass a notch. I may think about a cable upgrade one day but not sure on turnaround time as I may go into withdrawal symptoms

I placed the order with Alex for the recable job and he told me that my place in line would com about 5 weeks later so I send my phones to him about 1½ weeks before my opening and had them back about 2½ weeks later.

What I remember from a conversation with one of the Japanese product engineers there 1500 ESW10s AT ALL. If 1000 are reserved for Japan and 50 for Europe...who is getting the last 450?

I also remember that this black cherry wood has never been used for a headphone before, so...

That is just a crazy price for these IMO. I love my ESW9, but 3x the price? Can they really be a lot better? I doubt it.

I'm guessing they're probably going to places like Singapore and other Southeast Asian countries. If that's the case, that'll be another source for importing a pair, although I have no idea how to go about doing that. Maybe fellow head-fiers from Singapore can lend a hand?

please don't... don't want to be seduced into buying one :P

You get cherry wood body, Japan logo printed, different sound signature which may be slightly better for that price. What to expect more? It's LIMITED! LIMITED means 1.2 factors added at least and Japan word printed is some what worths at least 10000 yen. Quite reasonable price for all dear ATH fans lol.

Take the W1000 or W2002, put in new drivers and some cotton, voila you have an L3000 without the leather. Thats exactly what it is, an improved W2002 (and that is an improved W1000). We all know the L3000 is miles ahead of the W1000 (which i love too). The driver is responsible for the sound. Nobody would ever say the L3000 is just a prettier W1000
wink.gif

BTW if it went like this:

W1000 -> W2002 -> L3000

Then ?

ESW9 -> ESW10 -> ESL30 ?
wink.gif

Im still waiting for a kick ass highend portable headphone. If the ESW10 turns out not to be the one but only marginally improved it will be sold and i'll wait for the portable leatherhead limited to 150 pieces

id rather get k1000 than pay for another woodied portable that I am already too afraid to use for its intended purpose for fear of scratching.

plus if it is gonna be circa 450 pounds then thats approaching grado rs1 territory... for a portable that i would be too scared to use in a portable setting?

the limited edition is to help with the high price.

If it is at £450 in England, then just buy overseas. It will probably end up being less than £300, which considering it is limited, looks very good and I am guessing sounds better than the ESW9 which I think is great for what it is, I'd be willing to pay. Like you say though, I wouldn't spend £450 on them, it's not good value, it's just for those with the money to spare at that point.

There are a bunch of sites up now accepting pre-orders. There are a few listed here and the least expensive clocks in at 40488yen. Add to that shipping and commission if you plan on using a deputy service and the total cost stands somewhere around 460~470USD. That's about £250, though I'm just using google's currency conversion here so I haven't factored in things like PayPal currency conversion fees and all that. A fair price for a limited edition phone no doubt. Or is it...do I remember correctly when I say the W10VTG had cost less than the amount the ESW10's are going at? I'm sure the ESW10's will depreciate in value after all units are snatched up and the initial craze is over, it is only a portable headphone after all.

The shop selling at 40488yen just jacked up their prices! Now the cheapest deal is at 42691yen. So an updated total cost looks about 480~500USD, £260~270. Damn that's expensive...Alternatively, one can wait for stock to appear on AudioCubes, I'm sure they will have similar pricing, if not cheaper.

ok so I just ordered and paid for my ESW10. $616 with shipping to UK. I'd say that was about 350 pounds. Oh well.
