Hey, I just ordered a Duet like 2 hours ago, from moon audio, think he will let me cancel? I can put the money towards this instead . I bet the Amp is sick..

Definitely. There is rumor going around that you may have a choice between a SS or something that uses a subminiature tube design (like the 6088 in the Vali) to sort of give the AK480 a bit of warmth to it. It would be a bold move if AK480 actually offered a portable hybrid tube amp design.

I've not demo-ed this product yet but would like to get my grubby hands on it . That's why some of you may have noticed a trend of the sale of my AK120, Tera, Kaedes, SE846, M500, UHA-6Mk2, & SRM-727a late last year.

Also aside from my attempt of moderating the AK240 with an iron fist, I hadn't shown much interested in it. As with Vinnie, I was questioning why Cirrus Logic used in the AK240 as the CS4398, so I'm looking forward to this DAC instead.

My only concern is the large storage as naturally it won't be a single 1TB chip but made of many. Has iRiver solved the memory latency through interleaving or something?

600 bucks doesnt get you much closer to the 4.9k price of the 480s lol

Do you think it will be a single DAC or dual like the 901? My guess is either a dual SABRE setup or perhaps something more esoteric, like a lattice design. Any idea?

I'm going to be honest, I'm not certain.

I'm hoping forR2R resistor ladder DAC or FPGA based design.

It's still dual CS4398 as far as I know, but with femto-clocks and higher quality parts all through.  Now if they could put a quad-PCM1704 inside, that'd be great, but those are threatening to go EOL, so I can understand why they wouldn't do it.
