No, but I'll subscribe here anyway! I can't wait-and IIRC, they were shooting for this fall sometime, possibly sooner rather than later if rumors hold true. I'd guess sometime before Thanksgiving at the latest.

In addition to the high resolution USB, the D1 update will have balanced outputs.
As for the D1 update, it will probably take longer than a few months. 
Beyond that, it's difficult for us to give an estimate at the moment,
except to mention that we are working very hard on it.

I hope it comes in black. Balanced? Dangit this changes EVERYTHING! Unless it sounds identical to it's single-ended output.

I don't care about finish-colors but lightning matters.
 
I hope that the single-ended headphone-output also remains as good or better than found on the D1.
Anedio would make huge profit if low impedance (under 200 Ohm) cans would work with it flawlessly.
 
I don't understand why are the companies not realizing that a dac should drive headphones as good as possible without separate amping too.
That would reduce overall setup costs, power consumption, synergy issues and much space on my desk...
 
I hope Anedio will stay smart as they did before...

As far as I know it was mainly low impedance 'phones that the D1 excelled with. It was the >250 impedences that it seemed to struggle with.

for example:
Grado users would not care about amplification anymore and that way even low-budget
music lovers could afford Anedio Dac if its satisfing even stand-alone for their headphones.

Actually the D1 has a low quality headphone amplifier, if they throw in a discrete amplifier with over 500mW into high impedance headphones, that WOULD be great news.
The lack of balanced outs was puzzling in the first version ... cost cutting done bad. Also, async/adaptive 24/192 USB in 2011 is not optional, it's mandatory.

Interesting.
 
Although I'm not the greatest fan of blue lights shining in the dark, the classic art-deco aesthetics of the original D-1 has become for me an appealing visual symbol of its sound quality.

Both Anedio and EE business decisions baffle me.
 
Both had product that sold like hot-cakes, and instead of simply filling the empty plate with more hot-cakes that everyone obviously loved, they instead go back to the kitchen and try to make a good thing better.
 
If it an broke don't fix it.
 
In the mean time, customers have the choice to either wait or take their money elsewhere...who's to say that another hot-cake stand won't keep the business and Anedio / EE are left with a new and improved product with a very small user base.
 
Keep in mind that the new trend with Sabre chips has already begun with multi-Sabre chip Dacs....Calyx Audio and NuForce both have 8x and 2x Sabre chiped Dacs respectively.  Both offer balanced out as well.

Where did you hear that the Calyx DAC has 8x Sabre chips? Something is confusing here. One ES9018 has 8 DACs/channel inside itself, which I think that's what you meant.
Also, I found it weird to see any DAC that uses the ES9018 without even offering balanced outputs.
