Then again you can always try CyanogenMod 10 and get a JB rom but that seems to be quite buggy on Sony devices atm. I'm not sure it has the usb-audio driver either

--> This may be the ultimate "ONE BOX ONLY" solution for Android phone/tablet ?

Plus, I will be also able to use it with my laptop...to justify the buying cost

I am being feed-up with the constraints of Apple like the encripted digital signal, the syncro that HAS to be done through iTune, no memory expansion possible...

Wow, that could be nice. I wonder whether it has it's own internal power supply though, if not that could be an issue with using it with the S3.

--> Not quite, but fairly soon. Once the 64GB S3 comes out this will be possible with a 64GB card (well, it'll actually be ~118GB of space available to the user), alternately once 128GB cards come out you could go about it that way (? possibly this year, certainly next year if not this year).

If you're talking the S3 then the sound isn't being handled by the device, so whatever player you choose should be fine.

Shazam and Soundhound both have purchase options available in Android, from memory both go to Amazon, which may or may not be helpful depending on where you are in the world. There are a few options available though, like 7-Digital for purchasing music in digital formats.

If you're talking tablets then it'll some somewhere in the order of 384GB+ (Transformer TF700 64GB + 64GB micro SDXC in the tablet body and 256GB full-sized SD card in the dock + possibility of further storage via USB drives plugged into the USB port). The Transformer lacks USB audio though and has a mediocre DAC onboard, but for maximum storage that would be the one.

- What is the phone or tablet that is the most appropriate to my project of "mobile audiophile" station ?

At this point in time probably the S3, since it works with external DACs and has good onboard storage options (unlike say the Nexus 7 with it's crippled onboard storage, which may still be OK if you're prepared/able to stream or OK with using something like the GoFlex Satellite to overcome storage difficulties).
