All things ZMF!

Great reviews! Which is your top choice for EDM/trance? That is the majority of my listening along with some rock and I’m looking to add another ZMF alongside the bokeh. I was thinking atrium closed, but would love to hear your thoughts on what you prefer with those genres (and what chain you have them on)
Strongly would lean towards the Atrium Closed or Caldera for edm and trance. The answer would depend what you are looking for.

Atrium Closed is more instant-punchy and clean. But it still has warmth. Can be slightly influenced by cables. As I said, I prefer the 2k copper, but the palladium is excellent is well if you want to slightly lift the midrange. If I am not working and want all out detail then I go with the Verite silver cable. All using xlr.

Caldera is a more well-rounded headphone than Atrium Closed, but depending on what you are looking for, that may not be best. It just sounds good and right. There isn't anything I can pick it apart for.

A car analogy would be a Porsche 911 GT3 vs a Shelby GT500 mustang. One is perfect in almost every way, but can be a bit on the serious side. One is slightly flawed, but has a extremely fun personality.

I just realized I forgot to add the Bokeh into my list. I'd probably tie it with the Atrium Open. In my original reviews I said it was like a Atrium Jr, but easier to drive to great potential. Worked well on all the daps I used.

Does anyone know how much ZMF charges for the wood display case by itself? I have one that I want to list on the classifieds, but I want to make sure I’m pricing it fairly.

There's a lot of different versions through the years that ranged from 50 when bought with a headphone up to 200 for a la carte. There were also a lot of versions made out of house etc.

Currently we have brought them in house and when they are listed will have a list price of 199.99 and then we also have some burl wood versions coming up that will list at 399.99 but to start will be bundled with headphones.

Showing my ignorance with ZMF headphones but besides the wood type and closed vs open, are there driver changes with most models? Trying to understand the changes between models.

There's usually a shared driver between specific open and closed models and in most cases they share the same name, but typically the open/closed versions have different tunings (either slight or larger depending on model) and the different drivers between models have different strengths but I will let others [hopefully] get into some of those differences as I've only got direct experience with a few models. There are threads on head-fi for all the models with loads of discussion on their general sound and strengths, often in comparison to other ZMFs.

My understanding is the following models share drivers (but again, often have different tunings): Caldera/Caldera Closed, Verite/Verite Closed, Atrium/Atrium Closed, Auteur Classic/Eikon(ic) '24, Aeolus/Atticus, and Bokeh will likely share the same driver as the upcoming Bokeh Open.

Open vs closed means nothing for a specific model name, they'll share the same driver. So Verite open and closed have same driver. But it gets a bit trickier once you get past the open vs closed differentiator.

Aeolus and Atticus share same driver.
Auteur OG and Eikon OG share the same driver.
Auteur Classic and Eikon limited runs share the same driver. This one is unique, the Eikon was discontinued but occasionally gets a limited run re-release with the new classic driver.
Verite doesn't share drivers with other models.
Bokeh doesn't share drivers with other models.
Atrium doesn't share drivers with other models.
Caldera doesn't share drivers with other models.

Looks like a MK IV. How is it?

It's a mkiii. Very, very good. I was surprised honestly how good it was. Seems best with Atrium closed, Caldera, and Atticus so far. But more testing needs to be done. I am looking to pair this with a ZMF decware when they get them back in stock and use the zmf one as a preamp. I've heard that is the best.
