Hello,
I'm late to this party and looking for a pair of distancers for my MS Pros. I would like to perform this mod to create the MS Ultimate.
If you don't make them can you steer me toward someone who does. I am entirely willing to pay what they are worth and then some.
Please get back to me if you can.
Regards,
Hugh

Hi everyone, thank you for such an awesome thread.  Thanks to you guys my old MS-1's are seeing more use than my HD 650's lately.  They are only modded with the good old yellow Sennheiser HD414 pads with the quarter and tape mod.  You guys have me contemplating wooden bowls....

Before I get to the wooden bowls, I have a quick question for you experts out there regarding pads.  Do you have a preference between Sennheiser HD414 pads or Grado G (jumbo) pads?

I've done some searching, and found conflicting results.  Some folks seem to think that without the spacer and/or wood bowls, the G pads are not a worthwhile upgrade.  I've read comments that the mids are too far removed among other things.  InnerFidelity, using the SR225is really seemed to like the G pads and the HD414 pads, giving a slight edge to G pads. (http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/evaluation-grado-stock-and-modified-ear-pads) I am happy with the HD414 pads but would like an over ear rather than on ear pad.  What do you think, worth the $50?

I prefer Over-Ear cushions to On-Ear, so I made a MS-1. I wouldn't put G-cushions on an MS-1 without the extenders -- it's the extenders that extend the soundstage, not just the G cushions. On most Grado's, the 414s are a significant improvement, especially with the dime-mod.

I have a symphonies magnum v8 driver, rholuphat cups and headband

My question is

Will liberator do a positive change to symphonies magnum driver??

Don't know, never heared a magnum system. Propably the soundscape will increase similar to all other models mentioned here, but it will alter the sound. It's unpredictable if you get blown away or get underwhelmed.

Comparing symphonies magnum v8.1 to grado GS3000e. They sound same in bass and mids. Magnum 8.1 upper mids are leaner(less bright) and more resolving whereas Grado GS3000e treble is more airier and extended whereas Symphones magnum are tight and on time.

The only two grado I like are GS3000e and GH4. I didn't like any grado till this date.

Symphonies magnum sounds like HD660's but more detailed and slightly more bright upper mids and treble.

Symphones magnum can do subbass with authority and not like anemic grados(well alessandro sounds warmer and more musical but most of grados are anemic).

Symphones magnum and GH4 sound very much alike. The difference is that symphones produce more detail and slightly more treble(but without peaks)

I will see what the liberator/distance mod do..

But can you tell me in words which frequency spectrum was increased by this mod

Like boost on bass or treble etc

I found that same site. They are 3D printed plastic and should work, if the inner?k diameter is correct so that it slides around the earpiece. I am using home-made spacers for now but could get these, esp if he could print some in silver.

If you order these post back with a review!

I wanted buy second hand MS1000 but I did not find.
I do not know anybody in my area who could make distancer for me.
So I placed order 2 distancer for 15 euros + 15 euros shipping.
Ordered this one: https://www.shapeways.com/product/4GK2SMFDD/spacer-for-alessandro-ms-1000-modification-ms-1

I do not like much Grado sound but I liked MS Pro with this mod Ultimate in past sound was more far from head, nice soundstage, overal sound tones gave clearly better sense. Hope MS1000 will be fine fun as well

It came. I can not try, do not have MS1 at the moment, dimensions hope are right:
Width 40mm, plus wall is 3mm, plus with top overall width 54mm.
Hieght 9mm plus with top overall height 13mm.
Colour would be definitely nicer if some sandy plastic or black, I ordered white.
