Guess so. If the bass becomes too overwhelming, you can close some of those holes again with adhesive tape.

This is my first post on this or any thread on these forums but after reading and enjoying the last 144pages of this thread i had to join... up till now my only experience with Grado and Alessandro products is very limited as i only own a pair of Grado igi's.

After reading this thread and many other reviews i have a pair of Alessandro MS1is on their way to me as i write this i also have some Grado G cushions ordered. Looking forward to just hearing the Ms1i's but i also can't wait to try and make the distancers... might try cardboard first to get an idea what i'm doing and then it'll be time to dust off dads old lathe in the garage for a proper pair....

cheers for all the info and knowledge...the last 144pages have been a pleasure to read...

I need bagels TT Please pm me if you have some extras willing to sell me...

Distancers but no bagels... That's sad man. So please if you have extra/if you can get it easily, consider about it :'( I live in AUS so I might pay via paypall but you would need to ship it however

You have encouraged me to do the same thing, and I finally made it with eyes like @@

It's hard to wait because not one claimed to like the original ms1 better, and I already loved my ms1 with Bil-mods for months :D

I have made myself some MS1000 finally, using Olive wood cups. The sound is as described in many of the entries in this thread, especially the increase in soundstage and bass is remarkable. I used to have 4 holes in my MS1 vented. After this mod I had to close 2 of the holes on each side, so that the bass did not become overwhelming.

Yep, and I suggest you try if you like the sound alterations of pad lining. And maybe some dust protection for the systems? Apart from that, a real beauty you've created there. Also the DIY forks are really cool!!

General FOTM has a bit moved away from Gradessandros and also from the MS1K mods recently, I've personally fallen deeply in love with the vintage ortho sound. But the MS1K/Ulti still is my favorite dynamical can (the Beyer gets sold in the course of the next days).

Kind of random but has anyone experienced problems with the gs1000 pads?

I just noticed today after having had a pair of MS1000s for about a year now, that the right pad is flaking.  Sort of around the rim where the foam is a bit more dense, it seems to have gotten crumbly and is falling off as a fine black powder.

Never heared about such issues. Is it one of the cheaper fake ones from Asia?
