still, would avoid sending card infos, make them give you the bank account info/number, so you know to who and how much money you give

else you'll end up with a bunch of monthly subscriptions, dejavu

I'll ask about the payment via bank transfer. And yes, it's very suspicious that they are telling me to give the credit card details without any reliable middleman.

There's always an option to get throwaway/gift credit cards though this will be my last resort.

That said I'm still not sure if it's worth buying it for the price or not...

Honestly, you should either try asking their price for AKG K712 without pads price or get a new pair of K712 for $350 and take out the pads on it and put it on your Annie. Then sell ur K712 with Annie pads. IMO. Just saying thought

Hey guys, so I have a K701 and am trying to replace the pads and headband. Most likely going to get the K601 headband and the K712 gel pads, but my price quote was $47.21 per pad ($90/2) and $76 for the headband.

First thing though, I was told that the K712, K612, and K702 Annie all use the same pads, but people here have posted different opinions about the pads.

Second, do you think its worth getting these replacement parts? Or should I just attempt to sell the K701 and get the K712. Or just suck it up and keep the K701 as is (I love the color scheme and aesthetics of the K701).

The parts are too expensive, you probably won't get the full sound quality of K712 if that is what you are looking for.

It's nearly $200 for the parts. You could have sale your K701 and get a pair of K612 or something :)

The k712 and k702 anniversary currently use the same pads. The older k702 anniversary used different pads, but those have been discontinued.

You could make your own headband if you're handy. There are some pics in the q701 thread. I'm mobile atm.

How bad is the unit? Q701s are pretty cheap and could be a good cheap replacement with a bit of a sound upgrade.

Ah I see. The unit is pretty nice condition, I am just thinking about moving to something else or maybe not.

Not to spoil you but there's a pretty sweet deal on K612 all around. Check this thread out for info;

unfortunately, pads are starting to cost a really silly amount for what goes into them.

You could sell them and buy a new unit. As mentioned the K612 is going for around $150 now, which is a pretty good price. Also you could get a Q701 for about $180 new, or sometimes amazon has "open box" returns which usually are in very good condition. Sometimes people get brand new headphones with a damaged box. Those usually run in the $130-$150 range.
