Are they pleather? If so, that would limit my listening time considerably, as pleather makes my ears sweat. The only thing I dislike about my original AKG K271 Studios is the pleather pads. I much prefer the non-sweaty pads on my K612. Besides, it looks like the Fischer audio he-2 pads aren't available here in the UK

I just got a used pair, Sounds great but the elastic adjustment bands are quite loose for my slightly-smaller-than-average head. Is this a common thing with the K612? I don't recall such a problem with 2 pairs of K701 that I owned a while back.

My K601 cable frayed at the earcup attachment point and the yellow wire inside is detached, so the left channel doesn't work. Otherwise it's fine.

There are two options, aside from selling as defective: replace original cable or mod with a K702 type. Does anybody do cable replacement or modding for the K601? Modding is way beyond my ability and even simple replacement will be a challenge.

I see that a cable replacement is available from Musikhaus Thomann in Germany. But while the cable itself is inexpensive at under EUR 7, they want EUR 30 for post to the US. Does anybody know a North American distributor or retailer?

Got the sheepskin hm5 pads on my pair of k612 pros. After 45 minutes and weak/sore fingers. I didn't even get the pads for these cans but thought I'd try if they fit before my hd669's arrive.

@renlute for me, the k702 mod isn't worth it since the cable only breaks maybe every 5-8 years in daily use I guess.
I don't know how much you are into soldering, but buying a Cable plus a Neutrik connector would be the cheapest way to fix it.
