What is the cost of a balanced cable for aeon ?

$99

I got a balanced cable for my AFO and aside from more distinct channel separation I hear no difference to the stock cable on my Aune S6, neither in volume nor sound quality.
Maybe it's just my ears, though.

This depends a lot on the amp. People assume balanced is always better, but on balanced amps the single ended can be as good, or the balanced can be better, depending on the circuit.

Improved pads in stock again?

Yes

Well, then you just have to buy a 2.5 mm connector and replace the 3.5 mm on the stock cable IF the original cable is 4 wires (with a separate ground). You can check it with MrSpeakers support.

It is 4 conductors and can be wired for any termination.

The Astell &Kern sr15 is $699 has a neutral sound signature and enough power to drive the Aeon. I tried the sr15 but decided to go with the se100. But for your $1500 total budget they would fit. Very portable and beautiful sounding. Very nice user interface as well. Worth checking into at least.

Thanks.

About the cable, I made a research and there are different opinions. Some say 2.5mm balanced cable sounds significantly better but some say there is no difference at all. What do you think ?

I do find the balanced connection better. More separation and seems to have more headroom. Upper treble and sub bass seem a little more controlled. But if you’re budget is tight you can always add a balanced cable later.

Hey Guys,

I don't listen very loud, reasonable ~70-85 dB. The sensitivity of this headphone and impedance would suggest that I could achieve this pretty easily w/o a headphone jack on my iphone and macbook, but Tyll mentioned it was a bit inefficient w/o an amp. Has anyone had problems achieving adequate volume on phones or laptops?

When I first got these, I was traveling and lost my portable amp so I switched to just my iPhone. At low volume it sounded great. If you listen at low volumes you don’t need an amp to enjoy them. It does sound better with a juicy amp though.

on MrSpeakers site you can get the DUM dual entry cable (for $199) terminated with 2.5mm balanced connector here :https://www.mrspeakers.com/shop/acc...al-entry-cables-37/dum-dual-entry-cables.html

You might email them and ask if they can sell you a dummer cable (for $99) with the 2.5mm termination.

You can also get ~$200 cables from Moon Audio (blue dragon) configured with 2.5 mm and for Aeon headphones. https://www.moon-audio.com/blue-dragon-headphone-cable-v3.html
or black dragon for ~$265 https://www.moon-audio.com/black-dragon-headphone-cable-v2.html

or you could buy the components as other s have said and make your own.

Or you could cut the end of your current cable and re-terminate it with a 2.5mm balanced (or have someone do it for you if you can't/don't have a soldering iron).

I have zero cable making experience, I must purchase.

Aren't there any cheaper options? Paying 265$ for a cable is absurd...

Try headphone lounge

OK... but a standart cable suitable with the AEON must already exist in the market.

For example, if you need a cable to charge your iPhone 8 you order a "Lightning to USB" cable. You don't need a customized cable named "iPhone 8 charger dragon cable!".

For AEON, a headphone cable such as "Female Stereo to 2.5mm" must exist and it should work. Am I right ?

if it was pretty much any other headphone then yes, but Mr. Speakers appears to be the only one using the connector they use so the selection is not large. Since Mr. Speakers said they can make the cable call them and order the DUMMER cable with 2.5mm jack. I posted an even cheaper option earlier though, get the Periapt 4 pin XLR cable https://periaptcables.com/collectio...ype-10-dual-mr-speaker?variant=13627730067561 and a 4 pin XLR to 2.5mm adapter https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07D7KZ8TL?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title and have the ability to use balanced outputs from a DAP or headphone amp.
