1964 Ears Adel IEMs

IIRC the W3 had more bass (and mid-bass) than the W2 or W4. FWIW, I used to own the W2 & W4 though never a the chance to try the W3.

My suggestion would be to pick the U4 or U8 if you're looking an added bass emphasis, or the U3 or U6 for a more balanced signature.

To my ears my U6 is a significant upgrade over the W4. It's not lacking bass - when a track has bass it delivers bass, and has deep sub-bass. OTOH, it doesn't add extra bass or have an elevated mid-bass hump. In other words is quite capable with bass, but is not a basshead phone. I prefer this over the U8.

Haven't heard the U3 yet. Did get to compare earlier V3, Qi (aka V4) and V6-Stage that the U3, U4 and U6 were based on. I was impressed with the level of sound quality the V3 delivered, especially considering the price. It was an improvement over the W4 and my SM64. I preferred the V3 over the Qi for the same reason as the U6 over the U8. At that time I bought the V6-Stage as it seemed worth the extra money.

Since then I got the A12 on the Kickstarter and sold the V6-Stage to get the U6 (for use outdoors and while traveling).

Hope that helps.

Anyone find a nice sounding silver cable for 64 earphones that has minimal to zero microphonics? Looking to get a 2.5mm balanced. I have a silver litz from headphone lounge that sounds amazing with 64 stuff, but the microphonics on it are horrendous.

Which version of Silver Litz do you have, the reference or the new T2?

are microphonics worse than w/ stock cable? I ask, because I was about to order one of his cables.

People on the headphone lounge thread say they are NOT experiencing microphonics. For me though, it is pretty bad. Not sure what to tell you. They sound and look amazing - for a really fair price. And Ted is the best to work with.

The u4 and u5 are very good, u8 is not much better. The lower models don't get much love here but they sound awesome.

There is no U5 - it has been off the 64audio site for a week or two now (unless you can find one used). My recommendation under 1k would be for the U6.

A little update, having swapped my A12 for an A10 a couple of weeks ago:

I am much happier! To me, the A10 sounds less bloated, more balanced and more detailed. Do not be mistaken about bass - the A10 has PLENTY of bass, staying prominent way down at the bottom of sub-bass territory. The A10 is still a warm IEM, just not overly so like the A12. There is no harshness at all - the A10s can be listened to for long periods and poor recordings won't sound horrible. I like my A6 but they can be harsh/unforgiving at times.

There are no problems with low impedance sources with either the A10 or A6.

I totally agree with your A12 vs A10 (U10 in my case) comparison. I did find I needed foam tips to tame the treble on my U10's. I don't find my U6's to be harsh at all, they are easy for me to listen to with no fatigue. I like the U10 and U6 better than the A12's.

What's your impression of the u8? Would be nice to get some owners opinions. I ordered mine like 2 days ago. Haven't got it yet but I'm pretty excited about getting my first "high-end" pair of iems
