SONY NW-A30 SERIES
That's why I think its really dependent on what IEM you test it with. Even on flat as you tested the players, the sony sounded better with my hybrid CIEMs. On the plenue D, bass-impact and sub-bass rumble was almost non-existant without EQ tweaking, and with tweaking alot of the detail is...- davtse

SONY NW-A30 SERIES
Just got the A35 in the mail on monday. had the A15 before this and was thoroughly disappointed especially when compared to the cowon plenue D. IMHO sony has hit a homerun with the A30 series especially at this price point. For those who ask for comparisons between the cowon plenue D and the...- davtse

Cosmic Ears - new CIEM company with great prices (including Hybrid designs!)
In all fairness, I think its a very subjective issue. I was previously using the jh16s but now I've given them up for the Ce6(enhanced bass). I actually do prefer the signature of CE over JH.- davtse

Having tried silicon, acrylic and vinyl, i have to say that ironically even though everyone says silicon provides the best fit and isolation, it turned out to be my worst experience of the lot. Acrylic provided the best isolation and comfort, with vinyl coming in a close second. Overall I think...- davtse

Review For those who are wondering how the CE6E sounds, I'm going to quote the review done by headfonia. Most of the review is spot-on, but I believe there are certain improvements since that time because Phil has been tweaking the CE6 continuously If you've seen my email...- davtse

I believe it is. I hope this becomes the new industrial standard in the long run. It's the first connector I've not had any issues with.- davtse

this tends to be the issue for the westone/ue two prong connector, which is why Phil made the decision to move to the new connector which is a lot more secure. I got the BA1 at the same time as CE4, use the CE4 a lot more frequently, but the BA1 seems to have gotten looser despite the lack of...- davtse

The BA4 definitely is picky. Have you tried the rockbox port though? I find that fooling around with EQ fixes the coldness of the player.- davtse

A point to consider is the ER4, which is a PITA to use because it is quite literally a pain(think ear rape), but it has remained the industrial standard for detail. 1 driver. Music is more than detail though, otherwise I would have considered reshelling the ER4. Borrowed it from a friend and...- davtse

No, all I'm saying is that sound is so subjective that you may not find 8/10/12 drivers as good as say a 3/4/6 driver IEM. For me, I've gone full circle on the drivers race, going from 2-3-6-8, and I've finally settled on a company that I feel takes pride in it's work and provides an...- davtse

I think at one point or another we're all guilty of buying into the hype. I used to think that my Jh16 was the end-all for me, and nothing less than 8 drivers per ear would suffice, but after getting the BA4 I have not used the 16s since.- davtse

Rockbox for iBasso DX50 dual boot with stock firmware
i'm curious, can those reporting accurate and inaccurate readings list the batteries that they are using? I remember when I was using the stock pisen battery my readings were pretty inaccurate, but after switching to the anker one, it started getting more accurate.- davtse

Rockbox for iBasso DX50 dual boot with stock firmware
Probably the only thing I dislike about the dual boot menu is that right after clicking RB, i get a LOUD click in my IEMs. It happens on start up with stock as well so its not a rockbox problem.- davtse
