Good PC speakers for an IEM guy?
I've been using a set of Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speakers for 2 years. Great detail on the satellites, and some BUMPIN bass in that sub. They don't make'em anymore, but there are plenty of deals on eBay for used sets.- kchui999

On the new USA show "Covert Affairs," it's the CIA agent calling them "Graah-do's", and the kid prodigy calling them "Gray-do's" I have a feeling the show's producers don't even know how to say it correctly. A mystery that may never be solved...- kchui999

What's the first CD…
First ever CD was a mail-in prize for sending in 10 or so Hi-C bar codes. Backstreet Boys, Tribe Called Quest, and some girl group. I was 7. Damn, it's been a while. -
Why do earphone cables go out?
Quality of signal transmission, or even the presence of signal transmission, is heavily dependent on the physical condition of the wire. Bending your cables to such an extent that it could damage the metal within the cable will cause it to shut down. Dont wind your cables up too...- kchui999

Agreed. I remember him playing the lead on Harper's Island, a mini-series on CBS last year. Great actor.- kchui999

Makes sense to wash them inside out. I'm just too lazy to turn them all that way.- kchui999

Thinking about upgrading from HD555's to HD650's
Really big difference. My PC's onboard headphone output sounds cold, and the detail just isn't there. The MKIII really makes the 650's sing.- kchui999

Thinking about upgrading from HD555's to HD650's
I've had a pair of Shure 420's for a few years before going into cans. The 650 is my first =] though I've definitely tested a few amps from eBay and a couple friends'. I still use my Zero as a DAC for the toslink output from my computer, but the amp section sounded great for the 3-4 months...- kchui999

Klipsch Custom 3 Sound
One of the kids I tutor (also a teenager) just bought a pair of UE Triple-fi's. According to some of the reviews, they've got great separation and clarity, qualities that you've mentioned are important to you. $200 from a reputable dealer on eBay, might be worth reading up on them. I havent...- kchui999

$500 dollars to spend on portable audio...recomendations??
^ Agreed. IE8's sound good, but they really lack some of the qualities that some of the best IEMs have in terms of sound, especially at that price point. I remember last year the real hot topic was the UE Triple-fi vs. SE530. Definitely look into those two. As far as an amp goes, I...- kchui999

Thinking about upgrading from HD555's to HD650's
I'm powering my 650's with the Little Dot MKIII. It's an awesome unit that sounds amazing, even with the stock tubes, and it came out to less than $300. Definitely check out more of the threads on this site about amps. I've spent 100x the hours reading posts than writing them out.- kchui999

I only let my audiophile friends listen to my rig. Everyone else has no idea what they're seeing, but they really like how my MK III looks- kchui999

se420 Advice
I've had my pair of 420's for a couple years now, and they're great buds. 1. I definitely noticed the sibilance in the treble right out of the box, but that goes away after 20-30 hours. 2. The se420 is a really neutral IEM, which is why I use it primarily for monitoring. I...- kchui999

Decent amp to source cables? advice please
Cables should probably be the last thing you want to upgrade, unless you've got some real crap-quality cables. I'd probably go for an external DAC, bypassing your iMac's line-out. What kind of cables are you using now? -
Black Dragon Cable installed on HD600 -- MAJOR differences in sound stage
The physics shows us that these aftermarket cables do provide a more efficient transmission of signals to your cans. The materials used, as well as their dimensions and insulation are all factors in creating the most effective transmission lines for our audio signals. I agree, however...- kchui999
