Mac to headphones - how to improve sound quality?

looks interesting, could i add an amp to that? 
 
one other question i have is the uDAC on its own, is that worth it until i buy an amp, Also what amp (portable) would be good with an ipod and linked with the uDAC when at home. 
 
atm i think the easier option would be the d2/4/10

What I linked to "utilizes a Wolfson DAC chip to feed a built-in high-power headphone amplifier"; "it will drive any headphones <350 ohms with authority."  USB-powered.  $149.  I've personally wanted something exactly like this for at least a year, but if such a thing has existed, I haven't been able to find it.
 
I'm not familiar with the Lyrix.  I know this company had a past amp that was very well thought of here and elsewhere (but I'm very new to portable amps myself, so I can't vouch for it).  Their new Arrow Amp, to which this is kind of a companion product, has received an awfully good review here, from someone who's quite skeptical about amps:
