Stax SR-009 Channel Imbalance Trouble / Driver Problem?

I just wanted to update this thread for completeness. I have been really busy moving but have been meaning to update this thread.  STAX finished the repair of my SR-009s in about 3 weeks. They said that there wasn't any problem over the phone (I can't read the repair paperwork as it is all in...

Stax SR-009 Channel Imbalance Trouble / Driver Problem?

Quote: Apologies, I just double checked and mine is 191x. I do not mean to worry you.   I started noticing it after approximately 1 week. It was quite obvious after adjusting the digital EQ on my PC. It would start after listening for about 10 minutes. Flipping the headphones backwards...

Stax Interview and Factory tour 12/12/12

I don't have anything to add that hasn't been said already but excellent work to all 3 of you. It's really interesting to see this side of such a legendary company. The article is definitely print-worthy.

Stax SR-009 Channel Imbalance Trouble / Driver Problem?

My serial is 190x as well. I dropped it off for repair last weekend.   I am really surprised that there is still a channel imbalance issue. I drove myself nearly crazy testing and retesting to find that indeed there was an imbalance issue present.   They said the replacement/repair unit...

Stax SR-009 Channel Imbalance Trouble / Driver Problem?

Has anyone else gotten this channel imbalance lately?   I purchased my pair approximately 2 weeks ago. I am getting the same issue described here. The R channel is about 25% softer than the L channel (I used the digital balance EQ on my PC). Even if I use the dual volume knob on the SRM-323S...

Decibullz microwavable custom fit IED headphones at CES

Quote: I wouldn't lose any sleep over what Gizmodo says about your product. The quality of their content has really taken a turn for the worst during the past 2-3 years or so. It is good to hear that you are going to target other IEMs for your product. I think your product does have a lot...

Decibullz microwavable custom fit IED headphones at CES

Thanks for taking the plunge for us posnera. When you were remolding did you put a spacer in your mouth? It's supposed to open up your ear canal a little bit and give you a better fit afterwards. I will likely try the same thing with my IEMs when I get back stateside.

Stax factory tour and interview in Japan approved during my trip to Tokyo Japan December 6th to December 13th 2012.

In this case I would preach patience and I believe it will be worth the wait. What Arnaud, Currawong and Scottsmrnyc will provide is insight into a company that is very highly, if not one of the most highly regarded for us. We are fortunate for them to be generous enough to share the thoughts...

    Comply foam tips?

I just got a set today (T-400s) for my Monster Turbine Pro Coppers. When I first got these IEMS I tried every set of tips that came with them and ultimately settled on the triple flange tips as they had the best clarity and comfort. However you really have to push them far into your ear canal to...

Decibullz microwavable custom fit IED headphones at CES

There was a review posted on Gizmodo about them today. Not particularly great but like with anything on Gizmodo, take it with a grain of salt. They also do sell their molds as an accessory. Anyone want to buy some and fit them on to some other existing IEMs and see how it affects the sound?

Best Amp for HD650 with PS AUDIO DL3

I know this is way out of current price range but I have the PS Audio DLIII and HD 650s and which I feed with a Balanced B22 and the combination is nothing short of amazing. Every time I listen to this setup I'm taken aback by how sweet it sounds. My point is that with your 650s and that source...

    Trouble shooting my audio setup

I think you are correct. I have previously used a hotaudio dac as my source but when I upgraded to my PS Audio DL III it was a night and day difference. Even compared to the VALAB NOS DAC (which is quite popular if you visit the DAC forum), there is a significant difference. Also, I am referring...

    Post pics of your builds....

Congrats on finishing up your B22 FallenAngel. When I first saw it at CanJam, I thought KRMathis' B22 somehow made it to LA. Also thanks for hooking it up for me to give a listen. My faceplates will be here tomorrow so hopefully I will have a post in this thread soon.

What amp are you HD650 guys using?

Balanced B22 here as well. I've been using them with my Millet Hybrid MiniMAX as my work rig which they sound excellent with. However, the B22 brings them to another level as I'm sure you've read. I also heard listened to them on a B52 (balanced outputs) at CanJam and they sounded wonderful on...

hey oneplustwo, try flipping the dip switches on the JT control board. I had the same problem recently. Beautiful build BTW. I really liked you B22 cookie tin and was sad to see it go.

    The Stax thread (New)

I am new to STAX, but after listening to a few rigs at CanJam I recently purchased a pair of SR303s and I'm looking for an amplifier solution. I recently built a B22 (I've been getting spoiled) and I'm finishing it with speaker outputs so I was considering buying a used SRD-7/PRO or MKII and...

Roll Call: Who's building, built, or thinking of building a beta22?

I'm using Amphenol Ecomate connectors from mouser and belden 16 ga spc from here. I'm looking forward to your balanced b22 build. Your 3 channel was great looking and such a bargain on the F/S forum.

Beta 22 and Sigma 22 Case dimensions

I ordered a knob from Michael at DIY Enclosures for my B22. Service was very fast and the knob is high quality. John, for my case feet I've been looking at these but at $70 for a set of 8, I may end up going with these or some rubber feet from ebay.

Roll Call: Who's building, built, or thinking of building a beta22?

Thanks for the input everyone. I'm using HD650s btw. Apparently the DLIII puts out 5.5 Vmax on it's balanced outputs. I was under the impression that 2.5-3.5V was normal. I contemplated replacing the resistors on my JT boards but it looks like the input attenuator is a better way to go. Thanks amb.

Roll Call: Who's building, built, or thinking of building a beta22?

Thanks guys. Do any of you with a balanced b22 have an issue with it being too loud? I'm using the balanced outs from a PS Audio DLIII and a Twisted Pear JT2 attenuator and I can barely go 1/4 of a turn before it goes from mute to earblowing. Also there is too much volume difference between the...

I got my balanced beta22 up and running this weekend. Big thanks to amb, johnwmclean, fierce_freak, fault151 and Russ and Brian at TPA for their help along the way. I still need to get the front/rear plates for the case made but so far it sounds fantastic. This was my 2nd amp build (1st being...
