I agree with Burninate35 on the Senn hd555s for gaming. Very comfortable for long sessions, and versatile enough for movies and music as well.

Do you want something covering your ears? If so, I say Sennheiser HD 202 or even 201s would fit your needs and are very affordable on Amazon.

Using the line out dock bypasses the internal amp in the Ipod. You get a cleaner signal.
