Stax SRM-006t - Can it be modded?
I've recently purchased my first Stax system; (404 / SRM-006t) and absolutely love it (thanks, gilency). I was wondering, however, if there are any mods to the amplifier (aside from tube rolling) that can squeeze out a little more performance?- howlndog

switchcraft 3.5mm plug - need help with recable
I'm doing a re-cable on my ath-es7 and need help identifying the r/l positive connection points on my switchcraft 3.5mm plug. On the picture below I have labeled where I think they are... but the R+ is such a teeny-weeny little ring I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Any...- howlndog

something to pair with my HD650
The Darkvoice 332 works very well with the HD650... I can only imagine that the 3322 (new version) is even better.- howlndog

Best Darkvoice Amp?
I've owned both the Darkvoice 336i and the 332 - each with upgraded tubes. IMHO the 332 is a better amp and worth the few extra dollars. The 336i is also a great amp and I would not hesitate to recommend it... but the the difference between the two is easily discernible. Good luck and watch...- howlndog

Trends TA-10.1 for AKG K340?
I've read a number of threads suggesting to amp the k340 via speaker outs. Any thoughts on how something like the Trends TA-10.1 might perform, particularly, against my Darkvoice 332?- howlndog

pc for music only - will a shuttle do?
I want to build a PC for music only... something small and simple. All my files are FLAC. I was wondering if the Shuttle K45 with 2gb of ram and a E7200 cpu would suffice (+ suitably sized HDD). Output would be via a s/pdif coaxial PCI card to my Monarchy NM24 DAC and then out from there All...- howlndog

Monarchy 22C DAC - is it competitive?
I'm in the market for a stand alone DAC and came across a mint condition Monarchy 22C for <$450.00. Is this DAC still competitive in today's market, or should I look for something new in the <$1,200.00 range? BTW, the DAC is going to be used with a Squeezebox v3.- howlndog

AKG 240 sextet insanity!
I just thought I'd update everyone... It appears the seller will not accept payment by credit card, which was clearly stated as a payment option for the auction. Payment by credit card was the only method of payment which offered the buyer (me) some form of rip-off protection. My last e-mail...- howlndog

I agree - absolute madness… unless the buyer was buying the headphones for himself, and say the box (baggies, inserts, paperwork, etc.) as a gift for an audiophile / collector friend who is turning 50 next month… nope it’s still madness and probably not the most sensible idea this fellow has...- howlndog

sextett - yes or no?
I am interested in purchasing an AKG K240 Sextett and came across this pair, shown below. It appears to have the six drivers (image 1), yet has gold trim (image 2). Can anyone confirm one way or another whether this is in fact a sextett (and which version it may be)?- howlndog
