which now that I think about it is pretty expensive,

think about it this way:
if you know you paid too much for it, it's gonna sound just that much better aka 'make placebo effect work for you'!

I'm guessing the NOS is the reason these sold for so high. Here is another pair of used Sextetts going for what seems to be a much more reasonable price on ebay.

A pair just went for $87. I think this was just a one time thing since it was specified as EP and was boxed and stuff.

IMO sextetts are a little better than the standard K240M but not worth upwards of 3 to 4 times the value you see in the used market.

Go team over-valued 240!

I have no idea. It's best to ask the seller what color the circles are. That should give you an idea.

I have given my sextetts some time now... and I'm a little underwhelmed. They are good, but clearly not as good as my other headphones. They sound somewhat closed in and the frequency response seems diluted.

Is there something I should check that could be affecting the sound quality? Perhaps they just need a very good amp to drive them...

I find the K240M really... weird. I paid $40 for the M and $75-100ish for my Sextetts/DFs and I think they're definitely worth paying double for.

I just thought I'd update everyone...

It appears the seller will not accept payment by credit card, which was clearly stated as a payment option for the auction. Payment by credit card was the only method of payment which offered the buyer (me) some form of rip-off protection. My last e-mail from him stated, in uppercase, that he would re-list them, despite my objection. I'm trying to sort it out and honour my commitment, but the spider-senses are tingling... and maybe I should walk while I have a chance.

If I were you, I would let him relist it. Besides his suspect feedback, not taking credit card payments (paypal) or otherwise would definitely make me not want to deal with him.

Well they might have gone for a good price, before you linked them on head-fi. The price will probably go stupid 5 seconds before it ends.

You can't blame your K340's for not impressing you. Driving them out of that ridiculous amp and everything. Poor things.
