Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v56 and HQ v97)

I bought the Wicked earpads and like them enough that I recommended to a friend who also likes them: - i find it very comfortable - the material touching your skin isn't pleather, so it doesn't "stick" and i had my Penrose's pleather flaking off so i'm less worried about durability - the ear cup...

Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v56 and HQ v97)

FWIW Initially I found my Maxwell had that crackly static noise when sidetone was on. My Penrose had much worse "wooshing" static noise so maybe that dampened my expectations but on the Maxwell its very quiet. But right now I don't hear it anymore. Maybe the firmware updates have fixed it, so...

Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v56 and HQ v97)

IIRC this was verified earlier in the thread. And on the FAQ it says: "Maxwell will switch between dongle and BT seamlessly via a multipoint Bluetooth connection, however, it will not play back both sources simultaneously." Which reads to me like it uses bluetooth with the dongle.

Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v56 and HQ v97)

Here's my quick review of the Maxwell, after upgrading from the Penrose. Most of it won't be surprising to people around here, but I thought it's worth weighing in on the smaller things that makes it worth the upgrade. - I'm far from the discerning audiophile, but sound quality is just as...

Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v56 and HQ v97)

Does anyone know what exact material the head band and ear pads are made of, and how best to take care of them? i.e. Can I give them a coat of Scotch-guard? My Penrose ear pads were peeling badly after about 1.5 years and I'd like to avoid that this time around.

It's finally happened. My Penrose have cracked at that fragile joint between the headband and the earcup. I bought it over 2 years ago, and as I saw reports of this, I thought I had lucked out or avoided it by being very delicate with it. I have asked the local retailer about it, they offered...

OMG I think you are right. I sucked on the left earphone and the balance almost returned to normal. Do you have a link to the sponge or foam you use to replace the filter?

Has anyone else's KZ IEMs developed imbalance issues? My CRA left side are now at about 25% volume compared to the right. I'm super pissed as I had this recently with my ZAX. I know the CRA is a fraction the cost of the ZAX but they only lasted a couple months! I've got a bunch of KZs and I...

Here is a (year old) list of 2.4ghz wireless headsets, ie similar to the Penrose: https://reddit.com/r/LifelongCaboose/comments/kq00im/12a_lifelongcabooses_wireless_gaming/ I searched for reports of wooshing sounds with other headsets there but could only get results for the Penrose. Hence my...

I thought my BT didn't work either until I realised that to do BT pairing you need to (slowly) double tap the power button. I was holding down the other button until it said pairing, but that is for wireless pairing. Have you tried that?

If you are defending the wooshing issue, you must not have experienced it. It is really bewildering! It sounds like there is a swirling, windy storm to my left. And adding to its distraction is that it comes and goes for minutes at a time. The white noise from sidetone is quieter, equal in both...

    Audeze Penrose X and Penrose

I use my Penrose daily, for meetings, music and gaming. I do enjoy them, understanding they have tradeoffs being a wireless headset. Having this quality sound at low-latency is great. I'm fortunate to not have connection issues over the short distance I tend to use them, though they cannot cope...

The Penrose that is designed for PS5 is blue (there's a blue colour around the ear cups). The Penrose designed for Xbox is green. So which do you have? Your colours are mixed up. If I remember correctly, the USB dongle has a switch on it only for the Xbox-version. Also, I believe that it only...

Could it be the bluetooth mix setting set to one extreme instead of 50/50? I think you can change this in the HQ app and through pressing down the volume dial while rotating it. Just from memory, I could be wrong.

It will loosen by wearing over time. But if you are impatient like me, I did loosen mine successfully by stretching it over a container of baby wipes that was just the right size, over a night or 2. I think I adjusted with a handtowel or other things to wedge it in. Just make sure the pressure...

Yes. But as the other commentor pointed out, you can reduce non-bass bands to have the same effect as bass boost. I remember now that this is what I ended up doing with my EQ. It also reduces overall volume a bit but once you set it and set your desired volume, you really forget all about it...

    Audeze Penrose X and Penrose

As I understand it, the Penrose EQ will reduce overall volume if you boost the EQ bands past some threshold, to minimise distortion. I've not found this to be a problem because there's plenty of headway in volume.

Yeah I'll second that it's still present. It's frustrating that it's there, ticks me off a bit every time I hear it. I returned my first pair and my second one has the same issue. I deal with it by playing music to drown it out.

I had something like this, but it was coming from the earcup cushion or leather. I swapped to the grey replacement earcups because I hated the stock blue earcups and the squeak went away, since forgetting all about it. I don't have a solution for repairing it but maybe its a potential source of...

Someone on Reddit posted their solution to connection issues: "a 2M usb extension for the receiver, attached at a high place on the wall. Not pretty, but works amazing" It's actually worth trying out something similar just to figure out if interference from nearby devices is causing issues.

I've had a similar experience to you. I've shared my thoughts before but here's a more detailed writeup after almost 6 months of use. I use it every day, for work video calls, music and gaming. And I'm on my second Penrose (RMA'd the first one because of the wooshing sound issue, but it didn't...

Thanks! I recorded a video as you suggested and am able to continue with a warranty claim. Though it looks like I have to pay for shipping both ways, which will be nearly half the cost of the IEMs :( I think I'll have to use Amazon in future for better security even though its a little more...

    Knowledge Zenith (KZ) impressions thread

Sad news... I discovered this week that my beloved ZAX has developed an issue where the left earpiece is maybe 1/4 volume of the right. Even though I've been nothing but careful with them as they're my best IEMs. I bought them from Linsoul, but it feels like they are going to make warranty claim...

    Best IEM tips?

I use the KZ starline tips with the flip tip mod on my KZ DQ6, but recently found them to begin slipping off and getting stuck in my ears when I remove the IEMs. It looks like the stem of the tips have expanded and so I can't use them anymore :( Has anyone else had this experience or do people...
