I found that in the settings you have control of how it handles WiFi vs cellular data in that regard. If you have an unlimited data plan, then you can set to stream the original file - I.e. lossless.

I have formatted two different cards on three different operating systems: Windows, macOS, and linux. All using FAT32 and 32k cluster size. No difference in behavior. Current conclusion: I have a faulty Bifrost 2.

Thanks! My Bifrost 2 does not behave that way. I've used a 2GB card and a 32GB card with the two files in the root directory. Both had been freshly formatted. I'll contact the factory and see what options I have.
